10 Reality Stars With Failed Music Careers

It’s not hard to believe that the fame hungry stars of reality television actually think they’ve got the chops to make it in show biz! When the limelight seems to be fading, many of reality television’s most memorable take drastic measures and make miserable attempts at pulling talent out of thin air. This list takes a look at some of those “stars” who crashed and burned in the music industry.

10. Paris Hilton

With The Simple Life coming to an end, Paris Hilton desperately clutched at the spotlight and released her debut album Paris in 2006. The album contained the singles “Stars Are Blind,” “Turn It Up,” and “Nothing in This World,” which did garner a bit of attention on the charts but had critics rolling in the aisles and cringing in their boots. Seven years later in 2013 the heiress received positive reviews for her work as the DJ at the “Foam and Diamonds” party in Ibiza. The success resulted in her releasing her single “Good Times” featuring rap artist Lil Wayne, and subsequent singles “Come Alive” and “High Off My Love.” In 2016, the song “Crazy” surfaced online. Well maybe after 10 years, she’s finally not sucking so bad.

9. Heidi Montag

When you talk about failed anythings-to-do with reality television stars, you can’t help but talk about Heidi. This girl even wrote a book on how to be famous for doing nothing and feigned marital problems for tabloid attention. But, her most notable failure was her attempt to launch a music career back in 2010. Her album Superficial was panned by critics and was commercially unsuccessful. It didn’t even rake in the money it cost to make! When she performed the single “Body Language” at the Miss Universe 2009 pageant, critics recoiled at the production! Hopefully we won’t be hearing any more from this fame mongrel.

8. Tila Tequila

Tila Tequila seemed to be ahead of the curve with her bisexual reality love show A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, but when she tried to cash in on her fame at the height of the show’s popularity by releasing singles under her own independent label she wasn’t met with much love. Her debut single “I Love U” received mixed critical reviews and failed to make the charts, but her second single “Stripper Friends” bombed both critically and commercially. By 2010, Tila felt it advantageous to change her stage name to Miss Tila, and once again attempted to release two more singles and an EP but the songs flopped and the last we heard from her was a featured artist on the 2015 Yak Boy Fresh single “Drunk Dialing.” It may be time to call it quits…

7. Ali Lohan

Ali Lohan’s family is not above cashing in on the train wreck that is Lindsay Lohan, and back in 2008 they exploited the familial connection and participated on the E! series Living Lohan. The show followed Ali around on her film auditions and chronicled her attempt at a singing career. While on the show, Ali released the single “All The Way Around” and it reached #75 on Hot Digital Songs. Well, that was the last we heard from Ali, but she can be spotted in various publications working as a fashion model.

6. Farrah Abraham

Farah Abraham makes no attempt at hiding her ridiculous lust for fame as she often verges on Kanye West style proclamations of her own glory. After Teen Mom came to an end in 2012, Abraham had no plans to settle in and provide her daughter with a stable home life. Instead, she released her first album My Teenage Dream Ended, and a memoir that actually made it onto the New York Times Best Seller list…come on, America! The album received an overwhelmingly negative response from critics for its overuse of autotune and bland production. In 2014, after appearing as the only single person ever on Couples Therapy, she released another horrific single, “Blowin,” a lyrical gem that she wrote herself. We’re not sure when the madness will end, but with this girl, you can count on it not being anytime soon!

5. Kim Zolciak

Kim Zolciak’s attempt at a music career is almost not even worth discussing it’s so negligible. In 2008 she began working on a country music album, which evidently never happened. She did however release a song “Tardy for the Party” that resulted in her being sued by her fellow Real House Wives of Atlanta star, Kandi Burruss, for releasing the song without proper license or consent. In 2011, Zolciak released a track called “Google Me”…enough said, and once again made a last-stitched effort in 2012 with “Love Me First.” Hopefully her 4 year hiatus is enough to lay to rest any further discussions of this reality celeb’s career as a singer.

4. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino

Alright, when you’re famous for partying and skeezing it up, what on earth makes you think that you have a shred of real talent the world wants to hear? Mike Sorrentino’s dreams of being a rapper were quickly laid to rest after he released “The Situation” to no success whatsoever. Needless to say he’s stuck to the reality television circuit and has appeared on Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Big Brother, and Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars.

3. Angelina Pivarnick

And if one person from the Jersey Shore crew trying to make it in the music biz wasn’t enough, there’s Angelina Pivarnick who released the song “I’m Hot” in 2010, and an even lesser known track “Serendipity” in 2012. The latter track was released to make amends with the LGBT community which she offended when she opposed gay marriage in a debate with recording artist Adam Barta. She tried to revise her position and released a public apology, but the damage was done. Needless to say it is unlikely that you’ve heard either of these songs but may have caught Angelina on Couples Therapy…or maybe not.

2. Melissa Gorga

This Real Housewives of New Jersey star released five singles since 2011, but has had zero success with any of them. I guess you can’t blame a girl for trying! At least she has her jewelry line and writing career for backup. In 2013, Gorga published Love Italian Style: The Secrets of My Hot and Happy Marriage. While this sounds spicy and intriguing, some reviewers likened her writing to her singing. Best of luck…

1. Alex Murrel

Laguna Beach star Alex Murrel released singles via MySpace and was briefly signed to Warner Bros. Records. She released tracks like “What’s It To You,” “Best Friend,” and “Hello,” which were featured on Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. But in 2009, the label dropped the young starlet due to company differences. After completing a degree in communications at Chapman University, Murrel worked at various firms and then tried unsuccessfully to start her own business. She’s recently re-entered the news after posting details of her pregnancy on Instagram. Who knows what the future holds for this new momma.
