10 Reasons Why Tori Spelling Should Divorce Dean McDermott!

Published on May 14, 2014. Updated April 25, 2017

Despite what they say, Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott have never really had a “fairy tale” marriage. Their relationship began under nebulous circumstances and, in spite of multiple reality TV shows and constant photo ops, the happy family thing has always seemed more like a façade. Now that they are on television airing their dirty laundry on “True Tori,” we think it is about time this couple calls it quits. Here are 10 reasons why Tori Spelling should divorce Dean McDermott!

10. He Cheated on His First Wife

When Dean McDermott met Tori Spelling on the set of the TV movie “Mind Over Murder,” he had already been married to Mary Jo Eustace for 12 years. They had one son together and had just adopted a baby girl but, that apparently was not enough. After leaving Eustace for Spelling, McDermott and his new girlfriend were quick to insist that they were soul mates and that they loved each other unconditionally; however, it doesn’t change the fact that he cheated on his first wife.

9. He Abandoned His Adopted Daughter

When Dean met Tori, he and Mary Jo Eustace had just adopted a daughter together; however, once he decided to leave Eustace for Spelling, he relinquished all responsibility for the child. Eustace finalized the adoption of her daughter as a single parent and McDermott went off with Spelling in search of fame and fortune. His abandonment of his daughter with Eustace says a lot about his character – he clearly has no integrity.

8. He’s A Gold Digger

Before he met Tori Spelling, Dean McDermott was just another struggling actor. He was married with two children, but he wasn’t living the dream. Spelling, on the other hand, was set to inherit a portion of her father’s $500 million fortune. It didn’t take much for McDermott to ditch his wife and family and start shacking up with Spelling who, even without the inheritance, was much wealthier. The marital problems only started to surface when it became public knowledge that they were having financial issues.

7. He (Allegedly) Hurts Animals

In court documents that were obtained from Mary Jo Eustace’s divorce from Dean McDermott, Eustace accuses him of brutally beating his dog. “We had a lunch date, and afterwards went to his house in Toronto to feed his dog. The dog had gotten into the garbage. Dean McDermott repeatedly and violently beat the dog with his fists and with a rolled up magazine. Dean McDermott was furious and it was very intimidating incident for me to witness,” Eustace said in the court documents. Here we have yet another example of McDermott’s character or the lack thereof.

6. He Uses Drugs & Alcohol

On “True Tori,” Dean McDermott admits to having an alcohol and drug problem, although he isn’t specific about what drugs he has been using. “I have a brain that wants to kill me, I have a brain that wants me dead, that’s how the alcoholic mind works and thinks. Have a couple cocktails, do a couple lines, shut it down after three lines,” McDermott said. According to court documents from his divorce from Mary Jo Eustace, Dean had a cocaine problem during their marriage as well. How can he raise four children if he cannot take care of himself?

5. He Cheated on Tori Spelling

McDermott proved the “once a cheater, always a cheater” saying right when he cheated on Tori Spelling with a random woman while he was filming “Chopped Canada” in Toronto. To make matters worse, this woman sold her story to UsWeekly, which publically humiliated the mother of his four children. McDermott proved himself to be completely untrustworthy. To get this woman into bed, he told her that his marriage was sexless which, according to Spelling, was an outright lie.

4. He’s Sexually Insatiable

Even though he has four young children with Tori Spelling, Dean McDermott’s ideas about sex are completely unrealistic. On the couple’s new reality TV show “True Tori,” he comes off as a sex-obsessed teenage boy. As the couple discussed their sex life, McDermott complained that having sex once every two weeks wasn’t enough for him. On the most recent episode of their show, he tells his wife that he was unfaithful because they were not intimate the night before he left for Toronto to film “Chopped Canada.” This man is full of excuses.

3. He Is Incredibly Insecure

According to their therapist, Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling are both completely insecure; however, his insecurities make him want validation from other women. “I was feeling like, you’re not going to be intimate with me, then maybe I’ll find someone who wants me. I was 250 pounds, I felt like sh*t, I looked like sh*t, and I needed some validation,” McDermott told the therapist on “True Tori.” If he felt so unattractive, how was he able to be intimate with this other woman?!

2. He Doesn’t Respect Women

The father of five doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to women. He cheated on his first wife with his current wife, and he has no idea how to take responsibility for his actions. Even when it came down to him talking about his affair with Emily Goodhand, he had nothing remotely respectful to say. “Emily was there and we got to talking,” McDermott said. “I wasn’t attracted to her – it was just like a warm body.” Spelling deserves better.

1. He Is A Bad Actor

Dean McDermott is mostly known for being a reality star; however, before he met Tori Spelling, he was a struggling actor – and with good reason. On “True Tori,” whenever Spelling tries to confront him about his affair, he tries to get off the hook by feigning pain. During couple’s counseling, he said that his recollections of his behavior are so painful that it feels “like an ice pick” to the head, which makes Spelling stop dead in her tracks. In our opinion, he is a terrible actor – and it’s so obvious what he is doing.
