His role as Captain America has firmly planted Evans as one of the most well-known actors in the world, and all we know is that really seems to be as genuine and down-to-earth as Steve Rogers himself. Throughout his high school years, Evans maintained an interest in acting and, after graduating from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, he moved to New York City to pursue his dreams and take classes at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute. 7. Hobbies

Evans has a lot of talents and seems to be one of those guys who can pick up nearly anything he tries to learn, but as it turns out, one of his most enduring and surprising hobbies is tap dancing! “I tap dance,” he revealed in an interview. “My mother was a tap dancer, and as a result, we all grew up with an understanding of tap dancing.” The Evans even had a tap floor in their basement and his mom says he still tap dances to release stress sometimes.

6. Famous Loves

Chris Evans is a sweet, genuine and seriously attractive star, but he hasn’t been so lucky in love. He famously dated actress Jessica Biel from 2001 to 2006 during which he also played her on-screen boyfriend twice, once in 2004’s Cellular and then in 2005’s London. He also dated Friday Night Lights star Minka Kelly off-and-on for many years, but most recently he has been linked to comedienne and actress Jenny Slate after her split from her husband. Although none of his relationship have gotten that far yet, he has been very open about wanting marriage. “I want to get married, though I want children – to me that’s the ultimate thing. When you’re old and on your death bed, looking back at your life it’s not going to be the films you’ve made or what you’ve accomplished, it’s the relationships you have. You’re survived by things that matter – the people you love and those who love you back.”

5. Missed Roles

Evans has had all kinds of different roles over the years, and has pulled them all off, but there were a few he was turned down for. In 2005 he read for the part of Drew Baylor in Cameron Crowe’s Elizabethtown, but he lost the role to Orlando Bloom. Then, in 2008, Evans read for the part of Scott Smith in Milk, but also lost out on the role, this time to James Franco. Afterwards, he stated, “I really wanted to be a part of Milk, but I lost out to James Franco. I guess if you’ve got to lose, he’s the guy to lose to.” Chris wanted a part in Milk because he is an active supporter of LGBT rights as his younger brother, Scott, is openly gay. Soap opera fans will recognize Scott Evans from his stint as Oliver Fish on One Life to Live.

4. Being Captain America

Although Evans pulls off the role of Captain America perfectly and it is without a doubt one of the biggest and most lucrative roles an actor could land, it was not easy for him to agree to. After being offered what was initially a nine-movie deal with Marvel as Captain America, Evans went into therapy to help him rationally think about he major decision. To help him out, Marvel than lessened the deal to six-movies, which Evans again refused; however, after therapy he decided it was a good move. “And if I hadn’t done the movie. I’d be kicking myself,” he said. He also opened up about becoming the muscle power-house that is the superhero. Although a lot of it is diet and exercise, he also revealed that for Captain America: Civil War, the costume department dressed him in clothing a size or two smaller in order to show off his physique.

3. Close To His Mother

Evans has jokingly called himself a “mama’s boy” before, and the fact of the matter is, he is just really close to his mom. In a hilarious interview with both Chris and his mom for Variety, his mom stated, “You always tell me when you think a girl is attractive. You’ll call me up so excited. Is that okay to say?” After his mom left the room, Evans revealed that he doesn’t just tell her when he thinks someone is attractive. “The first time I had sex. I raced home and was like, ‘Mom, I just had sex!'”

2. Becoming An Actor

In June 2016, the blockbuster star shared a hilarious throwback by posting his internship cover letter from 1998 when he was desperate to be taken on by a company to get him closer to acting. Although he said the letter and accompanying head shot were humiliating, it worked! He landed an internship at a casting agency and although he spend a lot of the time getting coffee and answering phones, he also met agents. In 1999, he was then the model for “Tyler” on the box for Hasbro’s teen game Mystery Date, and in 2000 his acting career took off with roles in Opposite Sex, The Fugitive, Not Another Teen Movie and The Perfect Score.

1. Directing

It has long been rumored that Evans would like to quit acting, and although he hasn’t confirmed this, he has said he would like to focus on directing, suggesting Captain America will be his last major acting role. “If I’m acting at all, it’s going to be under Marvel contract, or I’m going to be directing. I can’t see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I’m contractually obligated to do.” He isn’t writing it off though, adding, “For all I know, in five years, I might say, ‘Sh-t, I miss acting.’ Right now, I just want to get behind the camera and make movies.” In 2014 he made his directorial debut with Before We Go, in which he also starred.
