Justin Bieber has had quite the career in the music industry! He was launched into the spotlight at a young age through a successful YouTube career and he’s now one of the world’s biggest superstars. Follow along as we roundup some unknown facts you might not know about Justin Bieber:

10. Ancestry

His mother is of French-Canadian descent and his paternal father’s great grandfather was of German ancestry. He also has English and Irish roots and he believes he also has the Native American blood.

9. Poor Beginnings

He grew up in low-income housing. His parents broke up months after Justin was born, so his mother, as well as his maternal grandmother and his stepfather raised him.

8. Musically Inclined

Growing up, he learned to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet.

7. Born Again

His mother was a born again Christian and Justin was indoctrinated to the church when he was young. Despite a questionable period when he dabbled in drugs and had some trouble with the law, he still has a strong relationship with God.

6. Sleep Troubles

He struggles to get a restful night’s sleep, so he needs Adderall during the day to help him focus. At some point, he plans to switch Adderall for some natural sleep aid.

5. He Doesn’t Text

In his GQ interview, he admitted that he doesn’t text. According to him, he doesn’t want people to be able to contact him that easily. Very few people have his number and it must be changed every six months for security purposes.

4. His Mom Had a Hard Life

Before his mother had him, she worked briefly as a drug dealer, tried to commit suicide by throwing herself into the path of an oncoming truck and ended in a mental ward where she had a spiritual awakening.

3. His Daddy Was an MMA Fighter and More

Justin’s dad, Jeremy, is a former Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter. He also has a criminal record and a history of drug and alcohol abuse. When Justin was born, his dad was in jail.

2. Killer GPA

He told Martha Stewart in an interview for Interview Magazine that he graduated from high school in 2012 with a 4.0 GPA.
