12 Reasons We Want Jennifer Lawrence To Be Our BFF
Published on October 6, 2015.Jennifer Lawrence is one of those celebrities who people see as very relatable. She’s funny, down to earth, awkward, and doesn’t act like she’s rich and famous. As a result, she’s one of the most loved female celebrities, and people no doubt want to meet her! In fact, we wish she was our best friend. Here are some reasons she would make excellent best friend material.
12. She Loves Food
One of the fun things to do with a best friend is to pig out on (often) unhealthy foods together. It seems like Jennifer Lawrence would be down for that. She loves to talk about how hungry she is during interviews, and was once so hungry on the red carpet that she had someone deliver her fast food (McDonald’s, actually) on her way inside. Seems like Lawrence would be up for stuffing her face with her BFF.

Jennifer Lawrence talks about women being mean to each other and says that she’s very against it. During an interview with Access Hollywood, Lawrence said, “I think that we are just so unsupportive. When I watch these shows and the media and I watch the women on these televisions shows pointing to these women and judging them and calling them ugly and calling them fat.” She added, “It’s just like, where have we come? Why are we here? Why are we doing this to each other? Men were doing it hundreds of years ago and now we’ve turned around we we’re doing it to each other.” Most people don’t want a best friend who is a mean girl, and it’s pretty safe to say that Lawrence doesn’t fall into this category.

Who better to be a girl’s best friend than someone who embodies girl power? Lawrence is a powerful, successful woman who speaks candidly with the media about women’s roles in Hollywood and impossible beauty standards, and she plays complex, inspirational characters (Katniss Everdeen, Mystique, Tiffany Maxwell) who are role models for young girls.

When Lawrence spots a star who she admires, she often turns into the kind of awkward mess that any non-celebrity fan would turn into. She gets flustered, runs away, says inappropriate things, and is just all around endearing and hilarious. Some particularly lovable examples are when she met Jack Nicholson at the Oscars while being interviewed, and when she met Jeff Bridges at Comic Con. Both times, she acted like an incredibly excited, like an awkward fan who barely knew what to do or say. And for that, we love her.
8. She’s Kind
Lawrence seems like a pretty compassionate person. She can often be found interacting with fans, giving them hugs or consoling them, she likes to support charities in her free time, and has even started the Lawrence Foundation, which supports several other organizations. It seems as though she has a big heart, which is a great quality for a best friend to have.

She doesn’t claim to eat everything she wants and magically stay stick thin, but instead says that although exercising and dieting is awful, she does work out for specific roles, but refuses to try to lose a bunch of weight for a role. She also points out that with a personal trainer, it’s a lot easier. In an issue of Glamour magazine, she said, “I hate saying ‘I like exercising.’ I want to punch people who say that in the face.” Many of her fans can probably relate to that.

Lawrence’s self-proclaimed number one fan is a former classmate of hers, Andy Strunk, who has Down syndrome. She was close with him in middle school and she even nominated him for an award for most popular student and helped him win. She hung out with him, invited him over to her pool frequently, and still keeps in touch with him, visiting occasionally. His parents say that winning the popularity contest was a turning point for him, giving him much more confidence. Another friend Jennifer has treated well is her best friend Laura Simpson. They have been friends for many years, and Jennifer took her to the Oscars in 2014. Her pre-fame friends have not been forgotten, which is nice for someone who has become so famous.

This happens both literally and figuratively. Lawrence is easygoing and is great at going with the flow when she’s embarrassed. When she makes a mistake, or falls in a very public avenue, she gets back up, points out her mistake, and jokes about it. How endearing is that? During her speech after her famous fall at the Oscars, she told people that they were only standing up because she fell and all felt bad. She seems to say whatever is on her mind. She makes fun of herself and yet still manages to come off as confident. Who wouldn’t like a friend like that?
4. She Can Sing
Not only can she sing well when she wants to, but she also sometimes sings in a ridiculous way during interviews. Her impression of Cher on Conan was particularly hilarious. Despite all of this, she says that she is actually terrified of singing in front of people. If she’s afraid to sing in front of people, but does so on TV and movies, it’s a pretty good sign that she will be willing to go outside of her comfort zone and have some fun with her friends.

3. She is a Photo-Bombing Expert
She photo bombs celebs like a pro, popping up behind countless celebrities on the red carpet. If she can pull that off on the red carpet, imagine how much fun she would be just hanging out with friends, and how many amazing photos her friends must have!

Many actors are quite poised during interviews, and clearly plan what to say in advance. However Lawrence, says very awkward and candid things in most of her interviews. She talks about being hungry, jokes about her awkwardness and points out her mistakes. She gushes over other celebrities and sings terribly. When watching her interviews, viewers expect the unexpected. It’s like she has no control over what comes out of her mouth sometimes, but it works. Sure, this might not always be perfect in a friendship, but she seems like the kind of girl who you could always go to when you want to hear the truth about something.
