5 Young And The Restless Stars Who Deserve An Emmy But Have Never Won

We are only a couple of weeks away from the biggest celebration in daytime television: The 2016 Daytime Emmys. The Academy has been good to the Young and the Restless (Y&R) over the years, with the show itself winning numerous awards for its overall performance, writing, and direction. Y&R cast members have also taken home a statue for themselves, including Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott), Eric Braeden (The Moustache, a.k.a Victor Newman), Amelia Heinle Luckinbill (Victoria Newman), and a slew of others. However, what about those who may have not gotten any Emmy love, despite their incredible efforts? Below are five Y&R stars who deserve an Emmy, but have never won.

5. Eileen Davidson

Playing the older Abbott sister Ashley since 1982 (on-and-off again), Eileen Davidson has become a staple on the Y&R, and is one of the most famous female faces on daytime television. While she has won a Daytime Emmy for her role as Kristen DiMera on Days of Our Lives in 2014, she hits this list, as she has yet to win one as Ashley Abbott on the Y&R. A true shame, since some of Davidson’s best acting has taken place, while living a chaotic and dramatic life in Genoa City.

4. Joshua Morrow

Y&R fans have watched Joshua Morrow play the clean cut Nicholas Newman on the show since 1994. He has grown from a cocky teenager, into a mature, responsible businessman, husband, and father. While Morrow received five consecutive Daytime Emmy nominations from 1996 to 2000 in the Outstanding Younger Actor category, he has yet to snag an Emmy of his own. Shocking to say the least, since Morrow has been involved in some incredible storylines including the death of his young daughter Cassie. While he has not been nominated in 2016, here’s hoping this legendary soap opera actor will get his chance to win an Emmy statue in 2017, or at the very least get a nomination for the work he does.

3. Jerry Douglas

Accomplished film and television actor Jerry Douglas has had an outstanding acting career. He began playing John Abbott, the patriarch of the Abbott clan in 1982, bringing a softer and more ethical side to the competitive world of corporate cosmetics. While Douglas’ character passed away in 2006, he continued to have a reoccurring role within the soap, playing the ghost of John Abbott, as he visited his children (mostly Jack), when they needed him the most. Sadly, Jerry has yet to snag a Daytime Emmy (or nomination) for his portrayal of John Abbott, and as his character plays less and less of a role within the daytime soap, it seems that his days are numbered in this regard.

2. Jason Thompson

Most General Hospital (GH) fans are all too familiar with the incredible acting skills of Jason Thompson, as he played the handsome and charming Dr. Patrick Drake on the soap opera for just over a decade. Alas, he recently made his way to Genoa City, and has had Y&R fans swooning as the charming, youngest Abbott, Billy. He’s been a screw up with the heart to make a real name for himself and Thompson has simply nailed the role. Which is an incredible feat, since there has been a major switch up when it comes to the Billy character since Billy Miller exited the role in 2014. While Jason Thompson received five (consecutive) Daytime Emmy nods from 2011 to 2015, in the categories of Outstanding Supporting Actor (2011 and 2012) and Outstanding Lead Actor (2013 to 2015) for his GH role, he has still yet to capture an Emmy of his own. Here’s hoping the actor will finally receive the recognition he deserves in 2017, and this time, for his role as Billy Abbott.

1. Lauralee Bell

Playing the iconic Christine Blair Williams on the Y&R since 1983, fans have watched young “Cricket,” the beautiful, adventurous model, evolve into career-driven “Christine,” a female who always seeks to avenge for any wrong doings. It’s crazy to think that over in over the thirty years that Lauralee has played Christine, she has yet to win an Emmy for her Y&R role, despite the epic storylines that she has been a part of during her tenure. She’s almost been raped, sexually harassed by her boss, unraveled conspiracies, been hit by a car, battled it out with Phyllis Summers (over and over again), and so much more. What’s even more shocking, is that 2016 marks the first time she has received an Emmy nod for her portrayal of Christine, grabbing a nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category. Here’s hoping 2016 is Bell’s year to shine.
