Reality TV personality KELLY OSBOURNE is urging U.S. officials to declare 4 September (14) National Joan Rivers Day in honour of the late comedienne.
Rivers died at the age of 81 on Thursday (04Sep14), a week after she suffered a cardiac arrest during a routine throat procedure at a clinic in New York City.
Osbourne, who appeared alongside Rivers on U.S. TV show Fashion Police, was heartbroken by her friend’s death and is now backing a campaign urging politicians to memorialise the late star by renaming the day of her passing.
She has posted a link to a petition on her Twitter.com page, adding, “Please sign and RT (return) #NationalJoanRiversDay (sic).” A message alongside the petition states, “Let’s give Joan the recognition she deserves & the fanfare she said she wanted in her book… Joan deserves this honour and your support to make September 4th, #NationalJoanRiversDay and will be greatly appreciated and help to keep her memory and spirit alive!”
The petition had garnered more than 8,000 signatures as WENN went to press.
