Reality star Meghan King Edmonds has been a main cast member of The Real Housewives of Orange County for three seasons since joining the cast back in 2015. Throughout her time on the show, she’s shared a lot of her personal life including her marriage to former professional athlete, Jim Edmonds, who once played for the Los Angeles Angels and the St. Louis Cardinals. The cute couple welcomed a baby girl in November 2016 and will be celebrating their third wedding anniversary at the end of October, so here’s a look at 8 things you probably didn’t know about their relationship!
8. Wedding
Meghan King Edmonds started dating and eventually married MLB star Jim Edmonds less than a year after he’d divorced his second wife, Allison Jayne Raski. They were introduced through mutual friends. It’s safe to say when the other Real Housewives ladies learned she was Edmonds third wife, there were a few raised eyebrows, but these two seem to be proving all the naysayers wrong. They tied the knot in a park in St. Louis on October 24, 2014.

7. Closer in Age to her Step-Daughter
We’re not sure who this is more weird for…Meghan or Jim’s daughter, Hayley Edmonds. Fans of RHOC will recognize Hayley from her brief appearances on the show and Meghan has addressed the somewhat shocking fact that she’s closer in age to her 20-year-old step-daughter than she is her own husband who is 48 and called the situation “a unique dynamic.” Viewers watched as she struggled to enforce rules with her step-daughter since she was the primary parent living with her when she was 18 and in still in high school. Hayley has since moved out on her own.

6. Long Distance Relationship
It’s not secret that Meghan and Jim have a very unique relationship with a lot of hurdles. The biggest strain on their relationship is the long distance. Jim is a retired MLB player who now continues his sports career in broadcast which means during the baseball season he’s gone a lot! In an interview with ET, she talked about how they cope with the long distance: “We’re a lot of Facetime, a lot of selfies. It’s difficult and we just try to do what we can do…leaving each other love notes, telling each other about our day. We have a shared calendar, and I know it sounds stupid, but it’s just nice to see who he’s having lunch with on a day to day basis, so we do what we can.”

5. Meghan’s Ultimatum
In a 2016 interview with People, Meghan admitted she almost left her husband over his frozen sperm! She had given him an ultimatum which usually doesn’t work well in relationships, but in this case it worked in her favor! “I think I said, ‘Baby, or no me at all. All or nothing,” she said. Of course, he agreed to take his sperm out of retirement and they welcomed a baby nine months later!

4. IVF Parents
Meghan and Jim decided they wanted to start expanding their family. While Jim already had four children from his previous relationships, this would be Meghan’s first child, and their first child together. Despite not having any fertility problems, their only option was IVF because Jim had previously undergone a vasectomy, but luckily had frozen some of his sperm. They were very open about the entire process on RHOC because, according to Meghan, she wanted to “humanize the process and bring awareness to infertility (although I am lucky enough not to suffer from it).” They welcomed a baby girl, Aspen, in November 2016.

3. Close with the In-Laws
Hanging out with in-laws is a part of being married, and it’s not always an easy part, but Meghan revealed her husband, Jim, actually loves her family which makes being a new parent so much easier. “He has a close relationship with my parents and siblings and is happy to have my parents live so close. He’s looking forward to having them at our house as much as possible! It’s not a typical in-law relationship!” she said in an interview with E! News.

2. Being Parents Together
Unsurprisingly, Meghan told Us Weekly that becoming a parent with Jimmy changed their relationship. “When the baby was newborn, I basically just wanted to kill my husband. I wanted him to move out forever at that point. I just didn’t want to see him. He was helpful, but in my hormonal brain, I was just like ‘I got this,’ but I didn’t,'” she said. Now that Aspen is almost a year old, Meghan gushes about how amazing things are with Jim. She said being parents together has made them “stronger than ever” and they “have this new found respect for each other. It’s almost like we fell in love all over again.”

1. More Kids in the Future
The big question on everyone’s minds is whether or not Jim and Meghan will have more children! Us Weekly asked her during a Q&A and this is what she said: “Yeah, I want to be pregnant again. I love being a mom and if it was up to me, I’d have like five babies! We can’t try in the traditional sense because I did IVF. We’re definitely talking about doing it again.”
