Peter Weber soared into the hearts of fans during his time on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, and while he might have not won Hannah’s heart, he is ready to look for love again. Although many thought the next Bachelor would be Mike Johnson or even Bachelor in Paradise‘s Derek Peth, ABC chose Peter Weber, and all eyes are on him now more than ever. Ahead of his quest for love on The Bachelor here are some things to know about Peter Weber:
12. He’s A Pilot
It should come as no surprise that Peter works as a pilot considering he has become known as Pilot Pete. Peter Weber works for Delta airlines and often shares fun shots from his job as a pilot on his social media. After flying previously for Compass Airlines, in March 2018, Peter shared his excitement about getting hired by Delta. “I’m so ready for this adventure! I’ve wanted to become a major airline pilot my entire life and today I’m so excited to announce I’ve accepted an offer to fly for Delta Air Lines. I can’t express my gratitude enough to everyone who’s helped me achieve my dream; thank you a million times. I feel like a little kid right now and I’ll never forget this feeling. #DeltaAirLines #KeepClimbing,” he shared on Instagram.

11. Came in Third
For anyone who missed season 15 of The Bachelorette, Peter competed for Hannah Brown’s heart and came very close to the final. Peter made it to Hannah’s top three with Tyler Cameron and Jed Wyatt, and made waves when Hannah admitted that she and Peter were intimate four times during their overnight date. Even though he didn’t win, Peter was nothing but gracious and sweet towards Hannah after his journey on The Bachelorette, and she shared personal details of their time together in the windmill. “Gratitude. The feeling that has consumed me all season and especially now at the end of this journey. Thank you Hannah for the opportunity to pursue your heart. You will always have a little bit of mine after the time we were able to spend together. Thank you to my brothers from the house. I know we all learned a lot about ourselves during this experience and I’m so happy I was able to make these memories with you guys. Thank you to @bacheloretteabc for giving this hopeless romantic a once in a lifetime experience I will never forget. Thank you to my amazing family for always having my back, I think everyone understands where my emotions come from now. Thank you to my friends for giving me more windmill jokes than I know what to do with. And thank you Bachelor Nation. I have felt your love and support since night one and I couldn’t be more thankful. Everyone on this planet deserves that ‘indescribable, words won’t do it justice, make your heart skip a beat’ type of love. Never stop until you find it,” he shared after the season.

10. Had A Girlfriend
There was some serious ex-girlfriend drama during season 15 of The Bachelorette, but luckily for Pilot Pete his was overshadowed by winner Jed Wyatt’s. Shortly before the Fantasy Suite dates, Peter’s ex-girlfriend’s friend took to Twitter to reveal he left his then-girlfriend Calee in order to be on the show. “Pete: auditioned for this show while simultaneously dating one of my best friends. And begging her to move in with him!” Calee’s friend shared. Later, Calee spoke out about the “betrayal.” “It was great, we were crazy about each other. Even though we lived on opposite sides of the country, we saw each other often — every week/every other week. It was as easy as a long-distance relationship could be. We went on vacations together around the U.S. and we even went to Switzerland in November,” she told Entertainment Tonight. She revealed they talked about marriage and kids until he broke up with her out of the blue over FaceTime shortly before Christmas. ”He absolutely betrayed me. He interviewed for a reality dating show while simultaneously planning a future with me. I trusted him entirely and he pulled the rug out from under me. Also, if all of this wasn’t bad enough, I’ve had multiple people reach out to me and tell me that he was seeing other women while we were exclusive,” she said. Peter responded to Calee’s claims, saying, “There was a lot of truth to what she said in her story, but there is also a lot of truth that wasn’t mentioned. The show had absolutely nothing to do with me ending that relationship.”

9. Contestants Have Already Been Revealed
The day before ABC officially confirmed that Peter Weber was the season 24 Bachelor, all thirty-three women vying for his heart were revealed. Of course, Reality Steve had spoiled that Peter was the next Bachelor, and reported that all 33 women were not likely to all be on the show and it would most likely be narrowed down to 30 or slightly less before the season aired. Naturally, there is already drama surrounding one of the contestants named Jade Gilliland. Jade was previously married and just divorced last year, and it seems her ex-husband’s family is not happy about her casting. The drama might be enough for Jade to be one of the women cut before the season premieres.

8. His Reaction
With quite a few promising men rumored to be in the running to be the next lead of The Bachelor, Peter revealed he thought they were going to tell him he didn’t get it when he first got the call from producers. “He was kind of being a little sketchy on the phone,” Weber recalled to Ellen DeGeneres. “I was like, ‘Aww shoot, it’s going to be a no.’ And he does a pause and goes, ‘We want you to be our next Bachelor.’ And I just lost my mind, just started going crazy!” He added that although he was very excited, he still had to go to work. “The funny part was, I had to fly a red-eye that night from Burbank to Atlanta for my job,” said Weber. “I was like, ‘I have to bring this down again. I have to focus.’ But I was wired for that entire flight. It was crazy.”

7. Personal Life
Peter Weber might be one of the most relatable Bachelor leads yet because he has been very open that although he has a successful career, at 28 years old he still lives at home with his parents in California. According to Chris Harrison, Peter’s home is only “five minutes” from the Bachelor mansion. Of course, constantly flying and rarely being home means it makes sense for Peter to just have his room in his parents’ house than a place of his own that is almost always empty while he is working.

6. Being a Pilot Runs in the Family
Pilot Pete is very proud of his career as a Delta Airlines captain, and as it turns out, the profession runs in his family. His parents met while his dad was working as a pilot and his mother was a flight attendant. Meanwhile he has a younger brother who graduated from UCLA with a B.S. degree in Mathematics, but it seems he is also a pilot!

5. Charitable
Many fell for Peter because he was a sweetheart, and it seems it really isn’t an act. Peter helps raise money for Seed to Mountain Ministries, which aims to “provide women of all ages as well as children of all backgrounds who have ‘faith as small as a mustard seed’ with platforms and opportunities to move mountains for positive social change.” He also revealed that he and his brother Jack often donate blood in honor of their grandmother. “Hey guys, something my brother Jack and I are very passionate about is giving blood. It’s been a dream of ours to one day start a foundation in honor of our grandmother Aurora who fought Leukemia. Giving blood and especially platelets is one of the only things that gives cancer patients relief and makes them feel good again,” he shared in part on Instagram.

4. Adventurous
With a career that takes him all over the world, it isn’t surprising that Peter loves being active, getting outdoors, exploring and having new experiences. He likes “snowboarding, watching football and line dancing,” and is a huge Seattle Seahawks fan, and takes an opportunity to fly himself to games whenever possible.

3. Loves Romance
It is only right that the Bachelor is a man who loves love, and Peter is a self-described “hopeless romantic.” He even once took a girl on a flight to Santa Barbara for dinner at sunset, and despite being heartbroken by Hannah, he is excited to find love again. “I’m just ready to immerse myself in this journey and hopefully come out with a fiancé at the end,” he said. “This is crazy. This is life-changing. I have truly, my entire life, looked forward to finding my girl, and that first person that I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with,” he added. ” I have all the faith in the world that this can work for me, and I know it’s going to.”

2. Already Knows One Contestant
Out of the many women competing for Peter’s heart, it seems one might already have an unfair advantage. Reality Steve revealed that Kelley Flanagan had met Pete at a wedding, and it is unclear whether their past history will be brought up. “I can confirm that in Mid-August, she met Peter in Malibu when she was attending a wedding. They hit it off and she told him she was going to be on his season. I have no details beyond that. I have no idea if they made out, slept together, etc. But now that it’s known publicly they are both aware of each other and just recently met, will be interesting to see if it’s brought up on the show,” Reality Steve shared.

1. Used to Sneak Into Bachelor Mansion
After Chris Harrison revealed that Peter Weber was a Bachelor first because he grew up “in the shadow” of the Bachelor mansion in Westlake village. As it turns out, Peter used to try to sneak into the iconic mansion. “I used to try to sneak onto the mansion about 10 years ago, when I was in high school,” Weber said. “Now, opening night, I’m going to be there with limos coming in… that’s crazy to me.”
