10. Zach Tinker’s Discarded Storyline

Although Zach Tinker is now on contract with Days Of Our Lives (DOOL), he still thinks about his Y&R character Fenmore Baldwin. The last time viewer saw Fen, he was newly sober and pursuing a music career in Nashville. Sadly, that isn’t where Tinker wanted to leave the character. The actor revealed to Soap Opera Digest that he was “really chomping at the bit to do something with [Fen] struggling with addiction, and then the emotional scenes that would bring”. Despite mentioning his desire to “delve more into the drug storyline” with producers, it didn’t come to fruition. “Fortunately, or unfortunately, a lot of the stuff I did was about singing,” he quipped.

9. Sharon Case Opens Up About Rey’s Demise

Sharon Case gave an incredible performance as Sharon Rosales when she learned that her hubby, Rey, had lost his life in a car crash. In part, it helped that Case was genuinely sad to lose her co-star, Jordi Vilasuso. “It’s always just very, very sad when somebody leaves the show, especially when it’s somebody who you’ve worked with for years,” Case told Michael Fairman TV. “I remember in the final take, my whole face was puffy from crying, and my eyes were red by then,” she added. Sounds like she’s describing just about every viewer who caught that performance!

8. Hunter King’s Next Role

As Y&R fans gear up for the debut of a new Summer Newman, with Allison Lanier assuming the role, outgoing actress Hunter King is getting ready to star in her first Hallmark movie. In the network’s original film Hidden Gems, King will star as Addie, a woman who (according to Soaps.com) loses her grandmother’s ring off the shores of Hawaii and hires a dive instructor to retrieve it. Find out if romance will blossom between them (um, duh!) when it debuts on Saturday, June 4th at 8pm.

7. Dylan McAvoy Isn’t Returning… Yet

Y&R alum Steve Burton has landed his first role since being fired from General Hospital (GH) in the fall of 2021. Burton will star in the second series of Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, which is set to air on Peacock this summer! The gig will be a homecoming for Burton, who started his soap opera career with DOOL back in 1988. Will his time on this mini-series pave the way for a more permanent role on the NBC soap? Or will Y&R scoop the beloved actor up to reprise his role as Dylan McAvoy? After all, Genoa City is down one cop these days…

6. And Neither Is Deacon…

The name Deacon Sharpe has been on the lips of many Genoa City residents, ever since Diane Jenkins came back to life. However, if viewers are hoping that the character will cross over from The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B), actor Sean Kanan has bad news. When a viewer asked him on Twitter whether the rumors of his Y&R return were true, he replied, “That’s news to me.” It certainly doesn’t rule out any future storylines, but for now, Deacon has his hands full in L.A.!

5. A Photo Session Between Besties

Michelle Stafford had some social media fun with her best friend, Finola Hughes. “My super homie, Finola Hughes, called me to get names of photographers,” Stafford wrote on Instagram. “I said, ‘I’ll shoot your pictures.’ She scoffed.” So, to prove to her former GH co-star that she meant business, she staged a photo-shoot… with herself. “Self-portrait,” Stafford added. “Book me while I’m still avail…”

4. A Night Out For The Y&R Crew

Speaking of Stafford, she also posted photos from a star-studded night out alongside Christian LeBlanc (Michael), Sean Carrigan (Ben “Stitch” Rayburn) and BFF Finola Hughes. The foursome took in a comedy show and then made a stop at Pink’s Hot Dogs. “I laughed so hard my stomach hurt!!” Stafford wrote in the caption. “Thank you for keeping the laughter! It’s important. Without you, politicians and news people would be our entertainment. THANK GOD FOR COMEDY.” (Totally unrelated, but we have to ask: is Carrigan just good pals with his former cast-mates, or could Stitch be coming back to Genoa City?)

3. Doug Davidson Throws Some Shade

When someone on Twitter argued that Drucilla Winters (played by alum Victoria Rowell) should come back to life if Diane can cheat the afterlife so easily, estranged Y&R cast member Doug Davidson chimed in with his own hot take. “Or get better writers,” he tweeted. Naturally, this direct criticism attracted fans to comment on his unusual impasse with the network. In follow-up comments, he pointed out that there have been “so many missteps” on the CBS soap, and later apologized. “Sorry. Don’t mean to be negative. It’s just so strange from my perspective,” he added.

2. Jeanne Cooper’s Poignant Anniversary

Unbelievably, it’s been nine years since Jeanne Cooper last appeared on Y&R — and as Soaps.com emphasizes, her final appearance had an auspicious feeling to it. After a routine disagreement with Jill (Jess Walton) over business affairs, Katherine Chancellor began her slow ascent up the staircase to bed. “Do you want me to help you up the stairs?” Jill asked, with genuine concern. “I believe I can manage,” Katherine replied. “Thank you, though.” Cooper then said, “Goodnight” — a fitting final line of dialogue for the iconic actress, who passed away five days later.

1. Don Diamont Gets Real About His “So Stupid” Y&R Exit

Don Diamont sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss B&B‘s 35th anniversary. But during the interview, the soaps veteran also made rare comments on his Y&R firing. As it turns out, he’s still getting a good chuckle out of his character’s drowning. “Yes, the Navy SEAL drowned in a frozen lake while rescuing a kid. Pretty good stuff,” he quipped. “He was an extremely good swimmer, which was why it was so stupid [that he drowned].” Luckily, Diamont can laugh it up, now that he received the “role of a lifetime” on Y&R‘s sister soap. “If anybody was trained to handle that situation, it was him,” he continued. “But it was the best thing that ever happened to me, I can tell you that.”
