An Honest Review Of The Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer: Is it Worth The Hype?

Published on September 10, 2020.

Almost every woman knows how daunting a task blowdrying your hair can be, especially for those who have coarse, thick, or curly hair. It takes time, patience, and skilled technique, especially if you’re trying to get that perfect, fresh blowout look like you just stepped out of a salon. Blowouts require perfect coordination of constantly turning a round brush while simultaneously holding up a blowdryer, which is a skill that can take years of practice to perfect. Enter: the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer.

The Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer seems to be the perfect 2-in-1 solution to achieving a bouncy blowout look without the struggle and tedious work of the traditional blowout method. It’s a round brush that also blowdries your hair which makes achieving a voluminous blowout simple, straightforward, and best of all, quick!

The bestselling Revlon tool has quite a bit of hype surrounding it since it’s sold at a fairly affordable price point in comparison to its competitors, so we had to try it for ourselves and offer an honest review. Follow along below for our guide on how to use the tool, the results, the pros and cons, and most importantly, is it worth the hype?

How To Use:

The first thing we noticed about the Revlon One-Step Dryer is how simple it is to use. There’s no learning curve when it comes to using this product and you’ll get great results even on your first try.

One major tip we learned while using the blowdryer, however, is to either rough dry your hair with a traditional blow dryer or air dry your hair until it is 80% dry. This will allow the brush to smooth out frizz and make your hair sleek with less heat damage than if you were to dry it from a fresh-out-of-the-shower state.

We also suggest drying your hair in sections when using this tool starting from the bottom to the top. This will help you stay organized while drying and allow you to keep track of exactly which piece needs to be dried next.

To use the brush, simply take a 1-inch section and place the blowdrying tool at the root of the hair. Pull the tool slowly towards the ends of the hair and use a twisting motion with your wrist at the end of the hair to mimic the look of a salon blowout.

The Results:

The results? A shiny, bouncy, frizz-free blowout. We were so impressed with the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer and really felt it mimicked the look of a salon blowout using a simple, straightforward tool. It gives the hair a smooth, shiny feel with a bounce to it, which is especially convenient for those with hair that is naturally wavy or coarse. It was quick, effective, and gave major results!

As with most products, however, the Revlon One-Step Dryer Brush does have its pros and cons! Follow along as we round up both sides so you can make an informed decision about whether you want to make the purchase.

Pro: Silky & Smooth Results With One Tool

The biggest advantage of using the Revlon One-Step Dryer is just how amazing the results are! We absolutely love the smooth, frizz-free texture that the brush provides and how bouncy and voluminous the hair feels after. It truly does mimic the look of a salon blowout and cuts out the need to use curlers, straighteners, or other tools to tame frizz or add shape to the hair after blowdrying.

Pro: Affordable Compared to Competitors

Another huge advantage to the Revlon One-Step Dryer is how great a value it is for the price, which is around $50. There are many similar blowdrying tools in the market, but hardly any retail for the affordable price of the Revlon one. The Dyson Airwrap Styler, for example, offers a similar promise of providing a salon-worthy blowout, yet retails for over $500. Another similar tool is the Drybar Double Shot Blow-Dryer Brush which retails for nearly $200. For the price and in comparison to competitors, we feel the Revlon One-Step Dryer is definitely worth the value and can achieve just as good of a result.

Pro: Simple & Quick To Use

Lastly, another major pro to the Revlon Blowdryer Brush is how simple and straightforward it is to use. There is no learning curve required and you’ll be able to get the hang of how to use it within the first try. On top of the simplicity of use, it also saves you time, especially if you were using the traditional blowout method before. The blowdryer combines both a round brush and blowdryer which streamlines the blowout process and can be complete in 10-15 minutes depending on the thickness of your hair.

Con: Slightly Heavy

With pros also comes a few cons! One con to the blowdryer brush that we noticed was that due to the size, it can end up feeling a little heavy by the time you’re done your blowout, however, this is the case with most blowdryers. To combat this problem, we again suggest allowing your hair to dry to around 80% before going in with the Revlon One-Step Dryer to allow this tool to simply act as the final step to smooth frizz and add bounce and shape to the hair.

The Verdict – Is It Worth The Hype?

After weighing the pros and cons, our final verdict for the Revlon One-Step Dryer & Volumizer is that we would definitely recommend this product! It gives the ability to create a bouncy, smooth blowout in record time, and is much more affordable than some of its direct competitors. For the price, the Revlon One-Step Dryer & Volumizer can add huge value to your beauty routine and is absolutely worth the hype.
