The Lion King is arguably one of Disney’s most well recognized and cherish films. Released nearly 25 years ago, the animated musical film told the story of Simba, a young lion who must learn about his role in the kingdom, especially after his father, Mufasa is tragically killed. After believing that he was responsible for his father’s death, Simba runs away, but after meeting some friends in the jungle and doing some growing up, he comes to terms with what happened and returns to his home to fight for his role as king. The movie was praised by viewers and critics and became the highest-grossing film the year of it’s release, and later the second highest-grossing film of all time.
When looking back on all it’s success, it’s not surprisingly to learn that The Lion King is a fan favorite among Disney viewers. In fact, it’s so popular that it’s being remade with new CGI and live-action tools and a star-studded cast that includes Donald Glover and Beyonce!
