Often one of the first thoughts that comes to mind when thinking of Princesses is their royal tiaras! Although this stereotype often only comes true in the pages of childhood fairytales, sometimes the royal Princess’s live up to their name and step out wearing some of the most breathtaking tiaras ever. Typically tiaras have been in the royal family for generations and hold quite significant royal value, so these pieces are mostly only worn for events that are quite formal, like a royal wedding! 14. Queen Elizabeth’s Russian Fringe Tiara

Queen Elizabeth married Prince Philip on November 20, 1947, looking stunning as ever. For the big day, Elizabeth opted for an embroidered satin gown designed by Norman Hartnell and topped her look with a Russian Fringe tiara. The jewelry piece was designed for her grandmother Queen Mary in 1919 and it can be worn both as a necklace or a tiara. Shockingly, the tiara infamously broke on her wedding day but was quickly repaired just in time for her to walk down the aisle.

13. Kate Middleton’s Cartier Halo Tiara

Kate Middleton surprisingly rarely wears a tiara for formal engagements, but her wedding day on April 29, 2011, was one of the few exceptions! Kate wore the Cartier Halo tiara, which is also known as the Cartier Scroll tiara. The tiara was loaned to Kate by Queen Elizabeth II and the piece was originally purchased by Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, as a gift to his wife. The tiara features 739 brilliant-cut diamonds and 149 baguette-cut diamonds.

12. Lady Melissa Percy’s Northumberland Tiara

Lady Melissa Percy, daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, married Thomas van Straubenzee in 2013 in what many coined the royal event of the year. Lady Melissa wore a large scrolling diamond tiara that comes from the family’s collection. The awe-inspiring crown was worn by several generations of the Percy family, including the 10th Duchess of Northumberland, who wore it to Queen Elizabeth II’s 1953 coronation. Although this stunning piece is considered a tiara, it most certainly looks more like a crown just judging by the sheer size of the diamond-encrusted piece!

11. Alessandra de Osma’s Hanoverian Floral Tiara

Alessandra de Osma, the Princess of Andes, married Prince Christian of Hanover on March 16, 2018, at the Basilica de San Pedro. Fans crowded the streets for hours to see the beautiful bride, and she did not disappoint in the slightest with her Chantilly lace gown and stunning diamond tiara. The tiara is entitled the Hanoverian Floral Tiara and has become a go-to wedding tiara for brides in the House of Hanover for its breathtaking floral design and sparkling encrusted diamonds.

10. Elisabetta Maria Rosboch von Wolkenstein’s Diamond Bandeau Tiara

Elisabetta Maria Rosboch von Wolkenstein wore a sparkling and eye-catching tiara to marry Prince Amedeo of Belgium in July 2014. She opted for a glittering tiara to top her veil which was borrowed from her new grandmother-in-law, Queen Paola. The Diamond Bandeau tiara was also loaned to her aunt, Queen Mathilde, for her wedding day. The tiara’s Art Deco design allows it to be worn as both a necklace and a tiara.

9. Princess Claire of Luxembourg’s Vine Leaves Tiara

Princess Claire of Luxembourg married Prince Felix wearing an ethereal Ellie Saab gown designed with Chantilly lace. To top her wedding look, Princess Claire wore the family’s Vine Leaves tiara which is made entirely of white diamonds and set in yellow gold and silver. Rather than flowers, the tiara was made to resemble leaves and curly vines with many of the single diamonds resembling berries.

8. Autumn Phillips’ Festoon Tiara

Canadian bride Autumn Kelly married Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, on May 17, 2008. Princess Anne loaned her new daughter-in-law her Festoon tiara which was given to Anne in 1973 by the World Wide Shipping Group in Hong Kong. The delicate diamond piece is one of Anne’s favorites judging by how often she wears it, so the fact that she shared it with her new daughter-in-law on her wedding day was a truly special moment.

7. Princess Madeleine of Sweden’s Modern Fringe Tiara

Princess Madeleine of Sweden married Mr. Christopher O’Neill wearing the Modern Fringe tiara in June 2013 in Stockholm. She wore a stunning lace Valentino creation for her dress and topped the look with the Modern Fringe tiara which is accented with sprigs of orange blossom. Prior to the wedding, it was anticipated that Princess Madeleine would stick to family bridal traditions on her wedding day and wear the family’s Cameo tiara and veil, but she went in her own direction and didn’t wear either!

6. Crown Princess Victoria’s Cameo Crown

Crown Princess Victoria married Prince Daniel in 2010 and followed family tradition for her wedding day when it came to her tiara selection. Victoria opted for the monarchy’s prized Cameo tiara which featured gold and pearl detailing rather than the typical white diamond design. The antique crown makes a huge statement and has been passed down throughout the family since the Napoleonic-era.

5. Sophie Rhys-Jones’ Unknown Tiara

Sophie Rhys-Jones, Countess of Wessex, married Prince Edward in an intimate ceremony at the Windsor Castle back in 1999. Followers of the royal family were shocked when Sophie stepped out in a tiara that many had never seen before. According to Town & Country magazine, the piece was actually remodeled specifically for Sophie by the crown jeweler and was designed out of four pieces of a crown that previously belonged to Queen Victoria.

4. Zara Phillips’ Meander Tiara

Princess Anne’s only daughter, Zara Phillips, married rugby superstar Mike Tindall back in 2011. She wore a dress that was designed by Stewart Parvin, one of the Queen’s courtiers, and she topped the look with a silk veil. As for her tiara, Zara wore a Greek-patterned headpiece that was straight from Princess Anne’s collection. It once belonged to Prince Philip’s mother, Princess Andrew of Greece, and is best known as Princess Andrew’s Meander Tiara.

3. Meghan Markle’s Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau

For Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding, she was loaned the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara from Queen Elizabeth’s collection. Made in 1932, it features diamonds set in platinum and a center detachable brooch made of 10 diamonds that date back to 1983. The diamond bandeau was given to Princess Mary when she married Prince George, Duke of York, who would later become King George V, and it was passed down to The Queen in 1953. While Queen Elizabeth hasn’t been seen wearing the tiara, her sister, Princess Margaret, did wear it to events.

1. Princess Eugenie

For her wedding with Jack Brooksbank, Princess Eugenie borrowed a tiara from her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and it didn’t disappoint. Many thought that she would wear the York Diamond Tiara, which her mother Sarah Ferguson wore on her wedding day, but Eugenie instead wore the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, which is commonly referred to as the Boucheron Tiara. It was made for Dame Margaret Helen Greville by Boucheron in 1919 and is made out of brilliant and rose cut diamonds pavé set in platinum and features six emeralds on both sides. Mrs. Greville gave the tiara to Queen Elizabeth in 1942.
