Celebrities Influenced By Kate Middleton’s Style

Published on September 26, 2017. Updated December 17, 2019

The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton revolutionized fashion ever since she was first spotted on the arm of Prince William. She shaped the way women dressed with her tweed power suits, midi length dresses and flattering lacy pieces and inspired women to steal her style and achieve similar looks themselves. Luckily, Kate believes in the power of a strong affordable brand and has often been seen rocking Zara during public appearances. Not only does Kate Middleton’s style inspire fans of the royal worldwide, but her effect on fashion has even been felt by celebrities who have been spotted rocking similar sophisticated looks in recent years! Follow along for 8 celebrities who were influenced by Kate Middleton’s style:

8. Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore has always been a put-together and polished fashionista, but especially after Kate Middleton became a public figure! The star took a style lesson directly from Middleton with this asymmetrical Preen dress. Middleton first wore the off the shoulder number during her 2016 royal tour of Canada in a sharp crimson color. Mandy Moore recently stepped out in the same dress in a royal blue shade during a This is Us screening on June 7, 2017. We think both women look absolutely stunning in this sleek dress!

7. Drew Barrymore

In 2016, Kate Middleton stepped out for a private engagement with the Bhutanese royals where she wore a Tory Burch floral mesh gown paired with a burnt orange shawl and statement gold earrings. Not long after, Drew Barrymore stepped out in the exact same garment in New York City for the ASPCA Bergh Ball. Tory Burch acknowledged the twinning moment and told Hello! Magazine, “I had no idea!”

6. Meghan Markle

Kate Middleton rarely opts for black in her wardrobe but instead rocks the softer hue of navy on a regular basis! Her go-to shade has been seen on blazers, trousers and even tweed suits like this one she has worn multiple times throughout the years. It seems that the potential royal-to-be Meghan Markle, who is currently dating Prince Harry, has taken a tip or two from Middleton’s style and stepped up in her own version of this classic Middleton look. The star paired a loose white blouse with a tweed short and blazer combo in a soft blue hue that definitely gave us some serious royal vibes.

5. Paris Hilton

Kate Middleton looked stunning on the red carpet in a white lace and pleated number by Self-Portrait at a London movie premiere. Her glossy locks were left down in loose waves and she paired the look with a tiny broach and matching red clutch. Socialite Paris Hilton stepped out in the exact same Victorian-inspired dress to amfAR’s Inspiration Gala but instead opted for an updo to show off the crochet collar of the ivory gown.

4. Melanie Griffith

Kate Middleton wore a cream Barbara Casasola dress to an award ceremony at the Natural History Museum in July 2016 and accessorized the feminine look with soft pink strappy sandals and a glittering vintage clutch. Two weeks later, Melanie Griffith stepped out in the black version of the identical dress for a Hallmark event and took a darker spin on the sheer look by displaying her undergarments. Instead of leaving her hair down like Middleton, Griffith opted for a sleek updo.

3. Mindy Kaling

Kate Middleton is known for wearing printed dresses that are tasteful and classy and it seems this poppy-pattern dress was a surefire hit as not long after, Mindy Kaling rocked the same one on the set of The Mindy Project. While Mindy wore the L.K. Bennett dress with coordinating cobalt pumps, Kate opted for a blue Oroton clutch and her classic go-to shade of navy on her feet. It seems that more than one Hilton has been inspired by Kate Middleton’s iconic style and Nicky Hilton definitely mimicked the Duchess’ wedding look with her own lacy bridal number. While Middleton opted for a $400,000 v-neck dress created by Alexander McQueen’s head designer Sarah Burton, Nicky opted for a $77,000 couture Valentino gown featuring similar lace detailing, sheer sleeves and a sweetheart neckline.
