With 2018 coming to a close and 2019 awards show season around the corner, we thought we’d take a moment to reminisce on all the memorable fashion moments from this past year. The red carpet style varies significantly depending on the awards show, but regardless of formality of the event, it’s still quite clear whether an outfit was well put together or not. Follow along for a recap of all the best and worst-dressed stars of 2018’s award show season:
76. Best: Carrie Underwood at Country Music Awards
The best-dressed star of the Country Music Award this year was the ever-elegant Carrie Underwood! She stepped onto the red carpet cradling her budding baby bump, wearing a fully embellished floral dress that was seriously stunning. We love all intricacy and detail of her look and it was clear that she had a stunning pregnancy glow the entire evening.
2
75. Worst: Blake Lively at MTV VMA Awards
Of all the looks from the 2018 VMA Awards this year we have to admit we were most disappointed with Blake Lively’s outfit! The star opted for a crisp white suit set, but she seemed to drown in all the fabric and unflattering proportions. The pants were far too large and the blazer cut at a strange height on her hips which did not come across as flattering.
3
74. Best: Rita Ora at Grammy Awards
Rita Ora definitely brought the sex appeal with the sleek, black number she rocked on the 2018 Grammys red carpet! Her look featured silver embellishment along the inside rather than the outside which was super trendy and unique. She channeled old Hollywood vibes with her ultra thigh-high slit and undeniably had all eyes on her as she elegantly graced the red carpet.
4
73. Worst: Emma Stone at Oscars
Emma Stone is typically one of the most well-dressed celebrities at any awards show, yet for the 2018 Oscars, she seemed to take too big of a fashion risk that critics were quite divided on. The look was comprised of a silk red blazer which featured a pink sash that was tied in a bow around her waist. The combination of red and pink was a huge runway trend this year, but we would have much preferred to see this color combo as a street style look than on the red carpet. In our opinion, it’s always a safer bet to opt for something a little more timeless than trendy when it comes to big awards shows.
5
72. Best: Jennifer Lawrence at BAFTA’s
Jennifer Lawrence was the epitome of class at this year’s BAFTA Awards when she stepped out in this polished black number. The strapless look featured a sharp square neckline which was nicely softened by the tulle off-the-shoulder sleeves. She sleeked her hair back behind her ears and rocked a bright red pout which was the perfect touch of glamour and glitz.
6
71. Worst: Maya Rudolph at Oscars
Maya Rudolph definitely left quite a few Oscar-goers feeling quite puzzled when she stepped out in this full-coverage red frock. It goes without saying that this garment drowned her petite frame and was highly unflattering. The rich red color is complementary to her olive skin tone, but the high-turtleneck style neckline and oversized long sleeves did not do her justice.
7
70. Best: Camila Cabello at Grammy Awards
Camila Cabello had all eyes on her when she stepped out in this body-hugging red number! Typically red is a difficult color to pull off and many stars tend to blend in with the iconic carpet, but Cabello found a way to stand out and shine. Her look featured flattering ruching and an exaggerated sweetheart neckline. The satin texture was rich and luxurious and she brought the glamour with her adorable disco ball clutch.
8
69. Worst: Barbara Meier at Golden Globes
Sheer paneling and floral applique were a huge trend during the 2018 red carpet season, but unfortunately, Barbara Meier’s look was a prime example of the trend gone wrong. Her Golden Globes look featured volume in all the wrong places and multicolor layers with fringe sporadically throughout. The look was quite the hot mess and although we love the color palette on Meier, the shape and detailing just did not cut it.
9
68. Best: Bebe Rexha at Grammys
Bebe Rexha stepped out looking sleek and chic at this year’s Grammy awards! Her look consisted of a curve-hugging shape in a soft pink color that was the perfect balance of soft and sexy. We love the contrast of the bronze tulle along the bust and the gold glitter beaded throughout the gown. This subtle glittering look flattered her skin tone and made her platinum blonde locks truly pop.
10
67. Worst: Camila Mendes at MTV Movie & TV Awards
Riverdale star Camila Mendes had quite the fashion mishap on this year’s MTV red carpet. Her look featured awkward lace cutouts in unflattering places and featured too much texture and pattern. The ensemble was quite busy and we would have much preferred for her to opt for something more simplistic.
11
66. Best: Tina Fey at Tony Awards
Tina Fey made jaws drop when she stepped out on the Tony Awards red carpet this year! She rocked a sleek silver number which totally showed off her curves and flattered her figure. The tassel, feather detailing along the skirt of this dress really added something unique which made it stand out among all the other metallic looks of the evening.
12
65. Worst: Emily Blunt at Oscars
Emily Blunt shocked us when she stepped out wearing this red carpet fail at the 2018 Oscars! Although the pastel shade of powder blue is lovely on Blunt’s fair complexion, the cut of the dress was just completely unflattering. The ruffles around the neck came across matronly rather than the demure look we assume she was trying to achieve. It’s safe to say this Oscar’s look was a definite red carpet fail!
13
64. Best: Lili Reinhart at MTV Movie & TV Awards
Riverdale‘s Lili Reinhart absolutely nailed her red carpet look for the 2018 MTV red carpet! The sophisticated black dress featured a tiered skirt with layers of tulle and a belt that cinched in at her waist. The look was the perfect balance of simplicity and sultriness with the soft layering and chic all-black color palette.
14
63. Worst: Jenny McCarthy at Grammy Awards
Radio show host Jenny McCarthy shocked everyone at the 2018 Grammys red carpet with her new teal blue hair! Although we’re not completely opposed to the eccentric hair color, we wish that she would have allowed the fresh ‘do to steal the show rather than distracting with embellishment. McCarthy should have definitely skipped the tinted sunglasses, mesh gloves and sparkling textures and simply allowed the bold hairstyle to do all the talking with her red carpet look.
15
62. Best: Emma Roberts at BAFTAs
Emma Roberts looked as elegant as it gets on this year’s BAFTA red carpet where she stepped out in this sophisticated, plunging number. We love the exaggerated shoulders on this look and think that it really balances out the revealing low-neckline and high slit of the garment. Roberts sleeked her hair into a bun and rocked a pair of dramatic chandelier earrings which really pulled the look together and added extra sophistication and class.
16
61. Worst: Tessa Thompson at MTV Movie & TV Awards
Actress Tessa Thomspon seemed to drown in this flowy red number on the MTV red carpet! The look featured ruffles, tiers, and layers in all the wrong places and did not flatter her figure. As much as we love the crisp scarlet color of this look, the shape of the dress did not seem to work.
17
60. Best: Kylie Jenner at MTV VMA Awards
Kylie Jenner opted for business chic attire on the VMA red carpet this year! Her crisp white suit was sophisticated and classy yet still stylish, which is why we love it so much. Clearly, the young entrepreneur is living up to her title as one of the Forbe’s billionaire cover models, and now her choice of attire reflects her astounded position in the world of business.
18
59. Worst: Emilia Clarke at Emmy Awards
Emilia Clarke opted for a lace Dior dress on the 2018 Emmys red carpet, but the proportions were all wrong to work with her figure. Typically we prefer dresses that cinch at the smallest part of the waist rather than the hips for the most flattering look possible. Aside from the proportions, the heavy black lace and dark floral applique weren’t the best choices.
19
58. Best: Danai Gurira at Governors Awards
Black Panther actress Danai Gurira had all eyes on her at the Governors Awards where she stepped out wearing this sleek golden dress that fit her like a glove and showed off her hourglass shape. We love how the gold sequins are multi-dimensional and the floral decals along the bust and hemline really add a unique feel.
20
57. Worst: Heidi Klum at Grammy Awards
Heidi Klum definitely had a peak in her red carpet style these past few years; however, it seems that she had slightly fallen with her 2018 Grammy Awards look. The sheer, black gown featured far too many cutouts and textures that it came across tacky and confusing. We can definitely appreciate the sex appeal of a cutout, jet black gown, but Klum’s look from the Grammy red carpet showed a little too much skin to pull the look off tastefully.
21
56. Best: Mandy Moore at SAG Awards
This Is Us actress Mandy Moore looked absolutely gorgeous in this dainty indigo gown. The look featured delicate straps and a simple V-neckline, but it was truly the subtle sparkle and eye-catching jewel tone that brought the glamour with this look! Moore complimented the look with a matching box clutch and a warm-toned smokey eye.
22
55. Worst: Laura Dern at Emmy Awards
Big Little Lies actress Laura Dern is quite unpredictable when it comes to her red carpet fashion, but her look for this year’s Emmys was a definite miss. The look featured a corset-style dress which she layered on top of a satin blouse. The two pieces did not seem to pair well with each other, but especially in combination with a string of double-layered pearls.
23
54. Best: Jennifer Lopez at American Music Awards
Jennifer Lopez showed off her hot pink dress by twirling around the red carpet at this year’s American Music Awards and it was a fashion moment that no one could forget! Bright pink was an unexpected choice of color for J.Lo who typically favors champagne and gold, but we loved to see her in something new and neon.
24
53. Worst: Kaia Gerber at CFDA Awards
Kaia Gerber, daughter of Cindy Crawford, has become one of fashion’s it-girls to watch this past year while making debuts on Chanel and Alexander Wang runways. Her look for the 2018 CFDAs, however, was definitely one of the biggest question marks of the event. Her outfit consisted of a casual, cropped shirtdress and a printed miniskirt which she paired with black tights. The look was messy, overly relaxed and quite confusing for a prestigious fashion event.
25
52. Best: Kelly Clarkson at CMT Awards
Kelly Clarkson looked seriously stunning on this year’s CMT red carpet! The black number was relatively simple but featured subtle details such as the puffed shoulders and silver embroidery which really made it unique. For added detail, Clarkson opted for a pair of dramatic silver earrings which really pulled the look together. She went a little more dramatic with her makeup, but left her hair sleek and straight.
26
51. Worst: Angelina Jolie at Golden Globes
Angelina Jolie was covered from head to toe at the 2018 Golden Globes and definitely left quite a few viewers confused with this choice of attire. The look consisted of a sheer neckline and wide bell sleeves which flourished into feathers around the wrist. The unique gown was definitely a huge fashion risk, which we often applaud, but we’re still not entirely convinced this was the most flattering option for the brunette beauty!
27
50. Best: Reese Witherspoon at SAG Awards
Reese Witherspoon looked absolutely dazzling on the SAG Awards red carpet where she donned a sharp, emerald number. The cut of this gown was the perfect choice for her petite frame, and the flattering angled stripes trailing down the dress made her look even sleeker. The ruffled off the shoulder neckline perfectly balanced the sophisticated cut by adding a touch of romance and softness.
28
49. Worst: Madelaine Petsch at Teen Choice Awards
Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch is such a natural beauty with her lush red tresses and pouty lips, but we can’t say the same for her sense of fashion. Her look for the 2018 Teen Choice Awards consisted of a white floral set that in itself isn’t too bad, but the black lace detailing made the look come across tacky. We love matching sets, but this one just didn’t do her beauty justice!
29
48. Best: Carrie Underwood at CMT Awards
Of all the stars on this year’s CMT red carpet, we’d have to say that Carrie Underwood was the best dressed. The country music singer rocked a sleek yellow and silver minidress which was super unique but still flattering. From the textured pattern to the ruffle detailing and the low cut neckline, this dress was seriously a work of art!
30
47. Worst: Gwendoline Christie at Emmy Awards
Game of Thone’s actress Gwendoline Christie attended the 2018 Emmys rocking this year’s most prominent color trend — yellow! Unfortunately, we’re not sure this was the best choice to flatter her fair complexion and blonde tresses. Aside from the color issue, the satin texture held on to wrinkles which made it appear a little cheap and inappropriate for a formal award show.
31
46. Best: Reese Witherspoon at Golden Globes
Reese Witherspoon absolutely glowed on the 2018 Golden Globes red carpet where she kept her look surprisingly minimal yet still stole the show! The sleek look featured an asymmetrical neckline and a body-hugging mermaid fit. For added detail, the dress featured a pop of satin overlay across the neckline. The actress tucked her sunny blonde locks behind her ears and paired the minimal dress with drop-style diamond earrings.
32
45. Worst: Amy Adams at Governors Awards
Amy Adams stepped out wearing a blush pink, long sleeve dress for this year’s Governors Awards that definitely puzzled us. While we love this soft color against Adams’ porcelain complexion and red hair, the strange sparkly heart detail on the bodice seemed out of place and juvenile.
33
44. Best: Kelsea Ballerini at ACM Awards
Kelsea Ballerini pulled a Marilyn Monroe moment at this year’s ACM Awards in this chic and whimsical white gown. We love the sheer lingerie-inspired bodice paired with the pleated flowing skirt. The balance of a feminine shape with sultry, sheer detailing was absolute perfection.
34
43. Worst: Rachel Brosnahan at Tony Awards
Rachel Brosnahan had quite the fashion miss at this year’s Tony Awards red carpet! She opted for a floral print dress which nearly blended in seamlessly with the floral backdrop of the red carpet. In isolation, this could have been a strong fashion moment, but the unfortunate backdrop situation really influenced how her look was received.
35
42. Best: Natalia Dyer at Emmys
Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer stepped onto the Emmys red carpet in a beaded, golden gown that was super elegant yet still a little flashy. Dyer is so petite that something minimalist like this works perfectly to flatter her figure in the best way possible. The golden tones of the dress flattered her fair skin and highlighted the warm, honey tones of her brunette tresses.
36
41. Worst: Bebe Rexha at ACM Awards
Of all the looks that graced the 2018 ACM red carpet this year, we have to admit that Bebe Rexha’s was one of the most questionable. Bebe Rexha is typically quite out-of-the-box with her fashion, but this look was overall quite confusing and unflattering. The sleek black gown featured a strange sheer neckline that totally detracted from what could have been a seriously glamorous little-black-dress fashion moment.
37
40. Best: Lauren Ambrose at Tony Awards
Lauren Ambrose looked sweet and feminine at this year’s Tony Awards! The Oscar De La Renta number featured a soft champagne color with stark black and silver bird embellishment throughout. Typically we’d be against any sort of animal-inspired embellishment, but this look is totally elegant. She accessorized with a black clutch, simple black pumps and a pop of crimson on her lips which added a slight sultriness to her look.
38
39. Worst: Gigi Hadid at CFDA Awards
Gigi Hadid is fashion’s it-girl at the moment and her appearance at the 2018 CFDAs was one of the most anticipated. Her Met Gala moment this year was seriously incredible, but we, unfortunately, can’t say the same for her look for this year’s CFDA Awards. The multi-color, skintight jumpsuit was chaotic and bizarre, which was a rare fashion misstep for the ultra stylish model.
39
38. Best: Scarlett Johansson at Emmys
Scarlett Johansson looked ethereal on the 2018 Emmy’s red carpet in this body-hugging white number that featured a plunging neckline, off-the-shoulder detail, and thigh-high slit. Her pixie-style haircut added a little edge to the ultra feminine and sultry look.
40
37. Worst: Kate Hudson at Golden Globes
Kate Hudson stepped out at the 2018 Golden Globes wearing a seriously revealing look on the red carpet. Her gown featured a plunging U-shaped neckline and was crafted with a mesh fabric along the bodice and waist. The dress featured a black velvet belt and a completely sheer, wispy skirt. With this look, we wish Kate had opted for either a revealing top or skirt rather than both. Since both the bodice and skirt were sheer, the look just bared a little too much skin for the classy event!
41
36. Best: Kristen Bell at SAG Awards
Kristen Bell stole the show at the SAG Awards in this fuchsia pink embroidered number. The princess gown was seriously swoon-worthy and feminine, but also quite unique by pairing together a color palette we wouldn’t initially think of — red, purple and pink. Bell proved that sometimes taking risks with the unconventional can seriously pay off, and this romantic number definitely left an impression.
42
35. Worst: Blanca Blanco at Oscars
Blanca Blanco bared it all on the 2018 Oscar’s red carpet where she stepped out wearing this red and white plunging number. The look showed a little too much skin to be tasteful and we wish Blanco had opted for something a little more covered up. Despite this, the red and white combo worked well together with Blanca’s dark features.
43
34. Best: Vanessa Hudgens at American Music Awards
Vanessa Hudgens looked like an absolute bombshell at this year’s American Music Awards where she stepped out wearing this powder pink satin gown featuring a deep V neckline and sleek shape. The texture and fit of this dress are super luxurious and polished looking, and even more so because of how well the dress fit her!
44
33. Worst: Nicole Kidman at Golden Globes
Nicole Kidman has seemingly landed herself on quite a few worst-dressed lists at the past few red carpet events, but one of the worst was at this year’s Golden Globes. The look featured a high-neckline that was sheer, covered in glitter and featured a ruffled shoulder detail. The proportions of the dress were unflattering on the tall, slender star and the raw, undone neckline of the bodice came across as messy and awkward.
45
32. Best: Hilary Swank at Governors Awards
This look was undeniably one of Hilary Swank’s best-dressed moments of all-time! The flattering gold strapless dress hugged her curves perfectly and featured intricate detailing throughout. She let her hair fall in loose waves around her shoulders and held a golden clutch in her hand to complete the bombshell look.
46
31. Worst: Jennifer Nettles at Country Music Awards
Feathers are a huge trend this year, especially during the holiday season, but Jennifer Nettles definitely missed the mark with the style at the 2018 CMA Awards. Rather than a feathered hemline or skirt, Nettles opted for a sheer blush dress with sporadic puffs of feathers throughout. Her look was definitely not one of our favorites, to say the least!
47
30. Best: Amber Heard at American Music Awards
Amber Heard looked absolutely angelic on the American Music Awards red carpet where she stepped out wearing a soft bronze gown that featured a belted waist and tulle embellished bustline. The dress fit her flawlessly and was truly unique, which is exactly why we loved it!
48
29. Worst: Margot Robbie at Critics’ Choice Awards
Margot Robbie’s look from the 2018 Critics’ Choice awards was quite questionable! We’re all for mixing prints and textures, but the stripes and colorful bejeweled belt simply clashed rather than looking like strategic matching. The cut did nothing for her shape and the strange ruffles around the neckline and waist were quite risky. Luckily, Robbie held an award in hand and seemed happier than ever, so her dress choice didn’t seem to matter as much!
49
28. Best: Emma Stone at Governors Awards
Of all the looks of this year’s Governors Awards, we have to admit that Emma Stone’s look was our all-time favorite! The midnight blue dress featured subtle sparkle along the bust and hemline, along with a metallic foil detail on the dainty sleeves which was totally unique and eye-catching.
50
27. Worst: RaeLynn at Country Music Awards
RaeLynn’s look for this year’s CMAs was undeniably one of the most disappointing of the entire event. While we love ruffles, we’re not sure this was the right way to go about the trend. The giant pink ruffle overwhelmed her body and hid her frame, which was an unfortunate fashion miss in our books.
51
26. Best: Helen Mirren at Cannes Film Festival
Helen Mirren was the epitome of elegance at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival when she stepped out in this chic Ellie Saab dress for the screening of Girls of the Sun. The dress felt both vintage and modern with its velvet detailing and gold stitching. The chiffon layering and dramatic cape sleeves really brought this look up a notch and delivered on the “wow factor” for the glamorous affair.
52
25. Worst: Kate Bosworth at Critics’ Choice Awards
Kate Bosworth is a typical red carpet all-star, but her look from the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards was definitely not one of her best. The lace garment featured a billowing hip detailing that was layered, puffy and overall quite awkward. The remainder of the dress featured a sheer skirt and sleeves but, despite this, the whole look seemed somewhat doily-like and overly covered up.
53
24. Best: Allison Janney at Oscars
Allison Janney looked absolutely radiant in this cherry red Reem Acra gown at the 2018 Oscars. The look featured a flattering sweetheart neckline which balanced well with the dramatic cape-detailing that cascaded from the sleeves. We love how glamorous and dramatic this look is, especially when paired with the eye-catching diamond necklace.
54
23. Worst: Salma Hayek at Oscars
Brunette beauty Salma Hayek typically lands on every best-dressed list when it comes to red carpet season, but we have to admit that this look from the 2018 Oscars had quite the opposite effect. The typically polished Hayek stepped onto the red carpet wearing a purple sparkly number with unflattering tiers along the skirt and strange neckline embellishment.
55
22. Best: Thandie Newton at Emmys
Thandie Newton proved that bubblegum pink is the ultimate red carpet gown color with the flattering Brandon Maxwell gown she wore to this year’s Emmys. We love how perfectly this gown fits her shape without showing too much skin and how elegant the scarf detailing falls.
56
21. Worst: Sarah Jessica Parker at Golden Globes
Sarah Jessica Parker will forever have high expectations on the red carpet after playing the ultra fabulous Carrie Bradshaw for years on television, which is why this look she wore to the Golden Globes was all the more disappointing. The star opted for a corset gown with strange mesh along the bodice, sleeves, and skirt. To make matters worse, the gown cut awkwardly at her ankles which simply made her look frumpy. We would have much preferred a gown with a little more fabric to reach the floor and a little less embellishment!
57
20. Best: Lupita Nyong’o at Oscars
Lupita Nyong’o stunned on the 2018 Oscar’s red carpet in this glittering gold number. The Versace gown featured a highly flattering sash that crossed the front of the dress with a layer detailing of black and gold mesh embellishment. The look featured flattering ruching along the hip and a feminine cap sleeve detailing. The entire look was ultra elegant and unique, which made this one of our favorites of the evening!
58
19. Best: Jessica Biel at Emmys
Jessica Biel was all smiles on the 2018 Emmy’s red carpet where she stepped out wearing this ruffled white number that was the epitome of trendy sophistication. The Ralph & Russo gown was embellished with a variety of scallop-shape applique which was totally unique and ultra flattering. Biel let her hair fall in loose, natural waves around her shoulder which really complemented the romantic, soft feel of the gown.
59
18. Worst: Kesha at Governors Awards
Kesha’s look for this year’s 2018 Governors Awards was highly disappointing in all honesty! The look reminded us of something hanging on the racks of a children’s store with the pink feathers and rainbow sparkles. If Kesha wanted to do sparkles, we would have much preferred if she opted for a neutral, more modest color.
60
17. Best: Romee Strijd at Cannes Film Festival
Victoria’s Secret model Romee Strijd absolutely dazzled on the 2018 Cannes red carpet where she donned this soft blue metallic number with a plunging neckline. The show-stopping gown perfectly flattered her statuesque build, especially with the silver metallic belt detailing which hugged her tiny waist. For accessories, the Dutch model topped her look with a wrap-style two-tone necklace that resembled a snake.
61
16. Worst: Tyra Banks at American Music Awards
Tyra Banks’ style is completely unpredictable, which is half the fun in seeing what she’ll step out wearing next. While we can appreciate a little fringe every once in a while, we’re not sure the trend is working with this hot pink mini skirt she wore at the 2018 AMAs, especially when paired with a casual and unnecessary baker boy hat.
62
15. Best: Hailey Baldwin at Cannes Film Festival
Hailey Baldwin made one of the biggest entrances at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival when she stepped out in this chic rose gold dress for the Girls of the Sun premiere. The beaded gown clung to her slender figure in the most flattering way possible, but the true showstopper was the fact that the rose-tinted details of the gown perfectly picked up on the colors of her hair! The flattering fishtail gown was definitely one of the most buzzed-about looks of the entire festival.
63
14. Worst: Pink at Grammy Awards
Pink has quite a unique style and her looks vary from outfits that are overly foofy and feminine to looks that are tailored and sharp. Her Grammys look for 2018, however, was quite the sight on the red carpet! Her dress consisted of magenta, royal purple, and cobalt feathers all the way throughout and a chunky black belt wrapped around her waist. Again, the feathers simply seemed too much and we would have much preferred tasteful detailing in certain areas of the dress rather than an entirely feathered garment.
64
13. Best: Nicole Kidman at Oscars
Nicole Kidman has had a rocky year when it comes to red carpet fashion, but she definitely killed it with her 2018 Oscar’s look! The royal blue number was designed by Armani Prive and featured a plunging sweetheart neckline and an exaggerated bow detailing along the hip. Kidman is definitely not shy to take a fashion risk or two, which we love about her, and this particularly sophisticated look was undeniably a risk that was well rewarded!
65
12. Worst: Ciara at American Music Awards
While the AMAs is definitely an award show that’s more open to experimental fashion, Ciara’s look for this year’s show was straight up bizarre. It appeared to be a casual windbreaker jacket cinched in at the waist and worn as a dress. We’re all for sporty style, but this look simply missed the trend.
66
11. Best: Dakota Johnson at Golden Globes
Of all the stunning red carpet dress moments from the 2018 Golden Globes, Dakota Johnson landed herself in one of the top spots. Although the front of her gown was relatively simple with a straight-cut neckline, dainty spaghetti straps and a minimalistic sparkling broach, the back of her dress was truly inspiring! The back featured a crystal-embellished bow design that trailed into a spattering of sparkles all along the back of her dress and left us absolutely speechless.
67
10. Worst: Allison Janney at BAFTA Awards
Allison Janney stunned in early 2018 at the Critics’ Choice Awards when she stepped out in a shimmering cobalt number, which is why our expectations were high for the awards show red carpets to follow. Unfortunately, Janney left us quite disappointed at the BAFTAs where she donned this completely strange silver and black number. The metallic look was definitely quite avant-garde and risky, but it lacked the simplistic elegance and sophistication of a winning red carpet fashion moment.
68
9. Best: Lupita Nyong’o at Cannes Film Festival
Lupita Nyong’o made jaws drop when she stepped out in this crisp white number for the premiere of Sorry Angel. Her Haute Couture caged dress featured a dreamy organza texture and feathery embellishment along the pleated skirt. The look flattered her figure with the banded waistline and the movement of the skirt definitely made heads turn from miles away! Nyong’o was the epitome of old Hollywood glamor and class.
69
8. Worst: Nicole Kidman at Critics’ Choice Awards
Nicole Kidman is a Hollywood starlet who was consistently best-dressed for many years, but unfortunately, quite a few of her looks in 2018 let us down! Kidman commented on her 2017 Golden Globes look that many people disliked and claimed she allowed her daughters to pick the outfit which might have been the case with this fairy pink frothy look for the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards as well! The color seemed quite juvenile and the ruffles along the skirt and sequins throughout made the look clash even more.
70
7. Best: Gigi Hadid at MET Gala
Gigi Hadid made a grand entrance and stole the show when she stepped out at the 2018 Met Gala wearing this sheer navy and gold dress designed by Versace. The look was a literal work of art and designed to mimic the beauty of a stained-glass window with its patterned paneling and shimmering colors. She looked completely ethereal and glowing, especially with her voluminous hairstyle and smoked out navy eye makeup.
71
6. Worst: Lady Gaga at Governors Awards
Lady Gaga is known for her bold fashion and theatrical looks. Sometimes this works for her and sometimes it doesn’t, like this interesting black dress she opted for at the 2018 Governors Awards. The look was made of a cheap-looking texture that resembled a garbage bag and the shape of the dress really drowned her. Fortunately, her hair and makeup were on point and somewhat compensated for the unfortunate gown!
72
5. Best: Jessica Biel at Golden Globes
Jessica Biel looked absolutely dazzling on the 2018 Golden Globes red carpet where she donned a princess-style Dior gown. The look featured a sweetheart neckline and was covered entirely in sheer black tulle over a nude underlay. For an extra dose of unique detail, the dress featured a flattering velvet detail which curved over the front of the dress. Biel pulled her hair back into an elegant updo and added a punch of color with a berry-tinted lip.
73
4. Worst: Allison Williams at Critics’ Choice Awards
Allison Williams, unfortunately, had multiple worst-dressed moments in 2018, including this awkward lace garment! We can definitely support a strong statement gown, but this particular Dolce and Gabbana garment seemed to be quite chaotic. There was embroidery, color-blocking, a sheer skirt, cutouts and a combination of strange colors that we wouldn’t typically think to pair together.
74
3. Best: Blake Lively at MET Gala
Heads turned and jaws dropped when Blake Lively stepped out in this opulent ruby red number designed by Versace at the 2018 Met Gala. The look featured a bodice encrusted with crystals and jewels and the rich velvet skirt featured regal golden embroidery throughout. She accessorized with $2 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, Christian Louboutin shoes and pulled her hair into an intricate updo with a halo-esque headpiece. The ornate look was undeniably one of the best of the entire evening! Could we have a new Met Gala queen?
75
2. Worst: Kate Hudson at SAG Awards
Kate Hudson undeniably led the worst-dressed list for the 2018 SAG Awards this year! The overly feminine gown featured heart-shaped polka dots, a strange turtle-neckline covered in lace and tacky ruffles trailing throughout. The look was a clear fashion miss on the typically elegant fashionista, which is why we were all the more disappointed.
76
1. Best: Jennifer Garner at Oscars
Of all the looks from this year’s awards show season red carpets, Jennifer Garner’s most definitely stole the show. The brunette beauty stepped out at the Oscars in this striking cobalt blue number that featured an asymmetrical neckline and a dramatic cape which trailed elegantly behind her as she walked. This choice of color and cut couldn’t have been more perfect!
