Carrie Underwood has come a long way since she first achieved fame as the Season 4 winner of “American Idol.” Back then, she was all about prom dresses; however, now her style is significantly more sophisticated. She knows how to rock a cute mini dress or gown like it’s nobody’s business. She doesn’t always get it right, but her style has improved considerably since 2005. Now that she’s pregnant, we are kind of excited to see what she wears post-baby. For a look at Carrie Underwood’s fashion evolution, come with us as we explore her good, bad and absolutely awesome style choices!
Billboard Music Awards – 2005
Carrie Underwood showed up at the Billboard Music Awards in this beige, jewel-encrusted dress with matching heels and gold accessories. Considering how young she was at this time, we feel that the dress is a bit too matronly for her. She should have gone for something shorter and more fun. We’re only young once!

Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Party – 2006
The country singer wore this leopard print dress with glittery details to Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Party. We like this dress far more than the last. The only things that we would change are the bangles. This dress is bold enough that it really doesn’t need a lot of accessories.

Sony BMG Post-Grammy Party – 2007
Carrie Underwood looked a bit like she was headed to her high school’s prom in this white strapless dress with black details that she wore to the Sony BMG Post-Grammy Party. We really aren’t into this dress or her hairstyle. Someone needs to help this girl with her fashion – fast!

Sony BMG Music Entertainment Party – 2008
The Grammy-winning singer decided to don a flapper girl dress at the Sony BMG Music Entertainment Party. This is a vast improvement over her other looks. We aren’t crazy about the color, but this dress is actually age-appropriate and quite stylish. As always, she made sure that there was something sparkly on the dress. She’ll outgrow this – hopefully.

51st Annual Grammy Awards – 2009
Carrie Underwood looked flawless at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in this gold-beaded gown by Zuhair Murad that she wore with a matching gold Nancy Gonzalez clutch. We don’t have any complaints about this look. It is elegant and sophisticated and we want to see more of this!

People’s Choice Awards – 2010
The occasional actress opted for a different look at the 2010 People’s Choice Awards. She wore this nude Christian Cota Spring 2010 dress with a black embroidered overlay and black Rock & Republic strappy heels. This look really suits her. Its more chic than a lot of the other dresses she sports at events.

68th Annual Golden Globe Awards – 2011
Carrie Underwood looked gorgeous at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards in this shimmery champagne-colored strapless Badgley Mischka gown. While we do think that she looks lovely, we can’t help but notice that, when it comes to red carpet events, this talented singer really likes her sparkly dresses.

American Idol Finale – 2012
The Golden Globe-nominated singer chose another sparkly dress for the American Idol 2012 Finale. She rocked this navy blue, long-sleeve mini shift dress by Badgley Mischka, which was embroidered with crystals. She accessorized with matching Jimmy Choo “Viola” sandals and a silver clutch. Now this is a nice ensemble – good job, Carrie!

T.J. Martell Foundation’s 38th Annual Honors Gala – 2013
Carrie Underwood attended the T.J. Martell Foundation’s 38th Annual Honors Gala in this sequined blue tulle Randi Rahm tea-length dress with nude-colored accessories. She accepted the Artist Achievement Award at the event. The dress is exactly what we would expect from the country singer – girly and sparkly.

49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards – 2014
The award-winning singer wore this white beaded fringe Oscar de la Renta Gown to the 49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. We don’t think this is her best look or her worst look. The one thing we are disappointed with is the fact that this dress, like all of the others, is sparkly. Carrie Underwood will never outgrow her love of glittery dresses, will she?
