She may not cut it all off like some other women in the entertainment business, but she has demonstrated that she is very comfortable trying new and, sometimes extreme, hair colors. Katy has been on the scene for several years now and she has never really blended in when it comes to her hairstyle choices. ASCAP Awards – 2008
When Katy Perry committed herself to succeeding in the pop industry, she traded in her blond hair for some dark brown locks. At the ASCAP Awards, she kept her hair straight and slightly tousled. The budding songstress made a name for herself in 2008 with her hit song “I Kissed a Girl,” which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Soon after, Perry became a household name thanks to her catchy songwriting and ‘40s pin-up looks.

The “I Kissed a Girl” singer debuted a shorter hairstyle at the Gridlock New Year’s Eve party. She switched her long locks for a short bob hairstyle with blunt bangs. We don’t love this hairstyle on her. With her soft features, it looks a little too severe. Even though 2008 was her breakthrough year, Perry did experience some minor setbacks. After a year of dating Gym Class Heroes Frontman Travis McCoy, the couple calls it quits in December 2008.

Katy Perry’s blunt bangs and short bob looked a bit longer at the press conference for the Muz-TV Awards; however, she has yet to become more daring with her choice of hairstyles. Perry launched her first headline tour in 2009 – Hello Katy. That same year, she met British comedian and notorious womanizer Russell Brand. The two hit it off and start dating. Three months into their relationship, while on vacation in India, Brand asked Perry to marry him.

The “Hot N Cold” singer arrived at the MTV Movie Awards where she performed her new single “California Gurls” with Snoop Dog in what looks like a bright neon blue wig. According to Perry, MTV had sent out a Tweet that she’d be performing naked at the event. The songstress made sure to let everyone know that she planned to wear clothes – daisy dukes and a bikini top, to be exact. Sounds like a publicity stunt on MTV’s part!

Katy showed up to the MTV Video Music Awards with what she called “My Little Pony Hair.” She looked great with her bouncy curls and blue, pink and purple highlights as opposed to the neon blue wig with the short bangs. Katy also looks much better without bangs. A month after the MTV Video Music Awards, the stunning songstress tied the knot with Russell Brand in a lavish ceremony at a resort in India.

The “Ur So Gay” singer dyed her hair candy pink and styled it in waves for the MTV Video Music Awards. She walked the red carpet with her husband Russell Brand and picked up the Video of the Year award for her song “Firework.” Despite all of her professional successes, it looks like Perry was unable to make her marriage work. Brand filed for divorce in December 2011 after only 16 months of marriage. According to the Grammy-nominated singer, Brand announced his plans to divorce her via text. Ouch!

Katy Perry rocked an angled, face-framing bob at the ROC Nation Pre-Grammy Brunch. To spice up the hairstyle, the newly single starlet dyed it blue. While waiting for her divorce to be finalized, she started dating Robert Ackroyd, a guitarist for the English band Florence + the Machine. The two were spotted at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The romance didn’t last long. After a few weeks of dating, the two quietly split.

At the Billboard Awards, the “California Gurls” singer died her hair dark purple and wore it in curls. Purple isn’t our favorite color on the stunning songstress, but we have to give her kudos for taking risks. Fresh from her divorce from Russell Brand, Perry embarked on an on-off relationship with another notorious womanizer – John Mayer. Even though they went on and off like a light switch, these two did seem pretty cute together.

Katy Perry went for a more natural look at the 26th Annual Kid’s Choice Awards. She had her raven hair styled in a long bob with subtle waves running through it. A newly single Perry – who was currently on a break with on-off beau John Mayer – had a great time at the award show. She beat out Taylor Swift, Pink and Adele for the Kid’s Choice Award for Favorite Female Singer and was spotted hanging out with Kristen Stewart and Selena Gomez.

It is hard to believe that the “Firework” singer is a natural blond! Perry kept her dark for the American Music Awards and, by dark, we mean jet black. It’s not her best choice but it’s not her worst, either. Perry opened the American Music Awards with a rendition of her latest single “Unconditionally.” For the performance, she donned a full Geisha outfit and had a Japan-themed setting depicted behind her.
