On Monday, May 2, the biggest stars and icons in the entertainment industry came together for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Insitiute Gala 2016 in NYC. This year’s theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, and as always, many of the stars went above and beyond to work their outfits into this unique theme. There was a lot of metallic, shiny and knight in shining armor looks going around as well as some gorgeous gowns for the prestigious invitation only event, and when a ticket costs $30,000 a person, money is of no object for fashion. While some looks didn’t go over as well as some celebrities hoped, these seven stars absolutely nailed it. Check out the seven best dressed at this year’s Met Gala!
7. Blake Lively
Blake Lively strayed away from the “futuristic” styles most commonly seen on the red carpet for the night, but the stunning actress still looked amazing. Lively hid her growing baby bump in a light pink silk Burberry gown which featured a long embellished train with red floral accents. Along with a high slit and long Lorraine Schwartz coral and diamond earrings, she looked especially glamorous.

6. Emma Watson
Emma Watson has a signature look now, and she rocks it each and every time. The upcoming Beauty and the Beast star donned another pants/skirt ensemble, perfect for both the theme and staying true to her own personal style. Watson donned a black and white bustier with black pants and a matching draped black train by Calvin Klein. Both edgy and sophisticated, it was a head turner.

5. Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner has found her perfect supermodel figure, and knows how to dress it! On anyone else, this gown would be reminiscent of tiling, but on Kendall, it is showstopping. Jenner chose an Atelier Versace gown with side ab cutouts, and a high neck. She let her body and the dress do the talking and kept her hair and jewelry simple, but also gorgeous.

4. Emma Stone
Emma Stone is all about flaunting her new dark hair these days, and also flaunted an amazing white Prada gown for the Met Gala. The talented star’s gown was accentuated with a gunmetal waist cinch and shoulder straps, adding just enough to set the outfit off. Not to mention she nailed it with perfectly matched dark eye makeup, Lorraine Schwartz diamonds and Louboutin heels. Stunning, but not over the top, it made the perfect combination for Stone.

3. Kate Hudson
On anyone else, this Atelier Versace gown would be questionable, but on Kate Hudson it was incredible. The strapless gown featured a sculptured bodice with expertly placed sheer slits and a twisted pastel train. Needless to say, her outfit has been deemed the fashion for brides of the future, and with her long blonde locks and $8 million of Lorraine Schwartz jewels, we can all see why!

2. Claire Danes
On the red carpet Claire Danes gown looked straight out of the Cinderella fairytale with it’s strapless cut and major ballroom skirt, but aside from looking amazing on the actress, many thought the blue number was a little plain. Little did they know, Danes actually took the theme the most to heart and, once in the dark, the dress actually lights up. Needless to say, the amazing Zac Posen ballgown has been equated to fashion straight out of The Hunger Games franchise.

1. Gigi Hadid
The talk of the night was undoubtedly supermodel Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik who made a rare red carpet appearance as a couple for the event. They chose coordinated gunmetal ensembles, and while Zayn’s metal arm was daring and eye catching, it was Hadid who hit the mark. She donned a beaded chiffon custom Tommy Hilfiger gown. The attached halter with tieing choker that matched the metallic bodice, nailed the future fashion theme, while the light see through skirt kept up with today’s fashion.
