The MTV VMA Awards took place last night which attracted everyone from Cardi B to Blake Lively to Millie Bobby Brown on the red carpet. Typically the outfits at the event are quite glamorous and fashion-forward, but last night there were a handful of stars who stood out from the rest. 12. Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande stunned on the red carpet last night with new fiancee Pete Davidson on her arm. The star showed off her deeply bronzed skin wearing a metallic, high-shine minidress. She paired the look with sparkling over the knee boots and passed up on her signature ponytail for long, flowing brunette tresses.

11. Rose Bertram

Belgian model and Instagram star Rose Bertram took a well-rewarded risk on this year’s VMA red carpet. The star wore a crisp white dress that featured a dramatic train and avant-garde layered detailing on the hip. We love the pops of metallic tulle on the skirt and the fact that she took a risk to be unique and stand out with her fashion.

10. Maddie Ziegler

Dance Moms star Maddie Ziegler looked both youthful and sophisticated on the VMA red carpet this year. She’s become a regular attendee of high-profile events this year and she’s proven to be quite the fashionista. Silk and satin textures were huge this year and her decision to rock this bubblegum pink satin set nailed the trend while still looking glam and girly.

9. Shanina Shaik

Austrailian model Shanina Shaik looked absolutely angelic on the VMA Awards red carpet this year! She rocked a sheer lace jumpsuit that was both classy and elegant but also sexy. The combination of white lace comes across pure and crisp, but the plunging neckline and sheer material add edginess.

8. Olivia Munn

Actress Olivia Munn wore a sparkling ultraviolet dress that featured a strapless neckline and thigh-high slit to the MTV VMA red carpet this year. The choice of this rich purple color was perfect for Munn’s dark tresses and the cut of the dress really hugged all her curves in the right places.

7. Karlie Kloss

Victoria’s Secret model Karlie Kloss stepped out in metallic for this year’s VMAs! The gunmetal dress hugged her figure flawlessly and the added detail of mixing metals by featuring a gold neckline made her dress super on trend. The double-slit added an extra sultry vibe and her loose blonde beach waves softened everything.

6. Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello dominated the red carpet this year after taking home multiple prestigious awards at the VMAs. In honor of the monumental night in her life, Cabello rocked a midnight blue fairytale-inspired gown that featured a dramatic, billowing skirt and contrasting white detailing along the hemline.

Cardi B has quite the reputation when it comes to her fashion, and even more so for red carpet debuts. For the VMAs, however, she was surprisingly quite classy and elegant! We love this rich jewel-tone pink on Cardi and the Bardot neckline and high slit added extra sultriness.

4. Shay Mitchell

Shay Mitchell always kills the red carpet fashion game, but especially for this year’s VMA Awards! She rocked a structured white dress that featured intricate beading with orange accents and a plunging neckline. The sharp shoulders of this dress really bring forward a vibe of sophistication, yet the short hemline and flirty detailing make it red carpet-appropriate and fun.

3. Millie Bobby Brown

Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown brought an air of sophistication and class to the VMA red carpet. Many celebs typically go through an awkward phase as teenagers in the Hollywood scene, but Millie has proven she is polished, yet still youthful, and has seemingly skipped this phase altogether. Her two-piece set was whimsical with the crop top and tulle shoulder detailing, yet the fact that it was black grounded it and made it come across elegant instead of childish.

2. Jennifer Lopez

Could Jennifer Lopez ever do wrong on the red carpet? The pop star sensation stepped out wearing a sparkling metallic dress that cinched in at the waist and featured an ultra-high slit up one leg. She let her hair fall in ultra-long blonde waves and donned a deep smokey eye on her lids.

1. Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner opted for business chic attire on the VMA red carpet this year! Her crisp white suit was sophisticated and classy yet still stylish, which is why we love it so much. Clearly, the young entrepreneur is living up to her title as one of the Forbe’s billionaire cover models, and now her choice of attire reflects her astounded position in the world of business.
