Emmy Award-winning actress Anne Heche has sadly passed at the age of 53.
“Today we lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend,” a rep for the star shared on behalf of her friends and family.
“Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy. Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.”
The family’s rep has confirmed that Heche is considered legally passed, but her heart is still beating and she has not been taking off life support to allow OneLegacy Foundation enough time to find recipients who will be a match.
The tragic news of Heche’s passing comes just one week following a car accident in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. The crash left a home destroyed and the actress unconscious and in critical condition. She never regained consciousness following the crash.
Heche’s career in Hollywood spanned decades, with some of her most memorable roles including Volcano, Wag the Dog, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Six Days Seven Nights and the 1998 remake of Psycho. She will also be remembered for her role in the 2004 film Gracie’s Choice, for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for best supporting actress.
