It is true, stars are just like us and even being Angelina Jolie couldn’t stop the director, humanitarian and award-winning actress from catching the chickenpox.

The hype surrounding Jolie’s new project, Unbroken, which she directs has been mounting as many are pairing the word Oscar with discussions around the movie and the film has also been a center of controversy as Japan is trying to ban the film due to its depictions of WWII Japanese prison guards.

With so much invested in the film however, Jolie, 39, is going to have to miss a few events promoting it because she has the chickenpox, as she explained in a video released by Universal Pictures on Friday December 12.

“I just want to be clear and honset about why I will be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days,” Jolie said in the video.

“I found out last night that I have chickenpox. I will be home itching and missing everyone. I can’t believe it cause this film means so much to me…I just can’t believe it, but such is life. There it is,” she stated.

While Jolie is clearly dismayed at the timing of her illness, she shouldn’t worry as husband Brad Pitt, 50, had no trouble filling in for his absent wife.

On Sunday December 14, the actor stood in for Jolie at the Unbroken Roger Deakins Image Exhibition in Los Angeles.

Pitt represented his wife well at the event, mingling with stars and guests and reassurring everyone Jolie will be back to events for the film as quickly as she can before the official première on Christmas day.
