Multiple sources are reporting that an arrest warrant has been issued for embattled comedian Bill Cosby and TMZ is reporting that he has been charged with criminal sexual assault.

The charges stem from the case of former Temple employee Andrea Constand, who alleges that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her at his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania mansion in January 2004.

Constand is now a massage therapist in Ontario, Canada and did not comment on the progress in her case; however, her attorney Dolores Troiani did speak out, stating, “Obviously we appreciate the expression of confidence in her. We’ll have to see what happens. We hope justice will be done. We will cooperate fully.” The statute of limitations to charge Cosby in the case runs out in January, meaning everything needs to be executed quickly before it is too late for Constand’s case.

While Cosby has not spoken out too much about the more than 50 women who have come forward with similar stories of drugging and assault from the once beloved entertainer, he has previously stated that what happened between him and Constand was consensual. The arrest warrant also comes just two weeks after Cosby filed defamation lawsuits against some of his accusers; however, many have countered with their own defamation suits.

If convicted, Cosby could potentially face up to 10 years in prison.
