B&B’s Diamond White Defends Herself Following Difficult Interview

Viewers have shown concern for The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) actress Diamond White after a disjointed interview with General Hospital (GH) star Maurice Benard.

Benard continued his trailblazing Youtube series State Of Mind on the weekend by welcoming White onto the show. However, it quickly became clear that the two weren’t going to engage in a straightforward dialogue.

White was friendly throughout the interview, but easily distracted and occasionally incoherent. When some viewers suggested online that the B&B actress appeared intoxicated, White took to Twitter to address their concerns.

“This was an interview I did when I was prescribed a different medication for bi-polar,” White tweeted, “and it was literally killing me from the inside out.”

White, like Benard, has struggled with bipolar disorder. She revealed in the interview that she has spent time in a psychiatric ward.

“It’s hard being open about mental health and seeing comments assuming I’m ‘on something’,” the actress added. “I was in a silly, goofy mood.”

If the interview itself didn’t sustain an educational dialogue about mental illness, the surrounding conversation about White’s behavior has more than made up for it. Soaps fans have come out to support White’s struggle, but also praise Benard’s patient, empathetic approach.

“I love that these interviews bring conversations,” Benard tweeted in the wake of White’s comments. “That’s what it’s all about and the fans are always so positive, it’s unbelievable.”

Benard also had praise for White’s honesty. “You are a champion for saying this, Diamond,” Benard tweeted. “I completely understand. I am very proud of this interview.”
