Billboard Names Lady Gaga Woman Of The Year

Billboard magazine is giving Lady Gaga a very prestigious honor, naming her Woman of the Year on Tuesday, September 29.

The 29-year-old singer, songwriter and actress will be succeeding none other than Taylor Swift who was last year’s honoree in an event which also celebrated the likes of Ariana Grande, Aretha Franklin, Iggy Azalea, Jessie J and Idina Menzel. L

Lady Gaga will be honored at the Women in Music event, which will also recognize more big names that will be announced in the coming weeks, and for the first time ever, the event held on December 11 at Cipriani Midtown in NYC will be televised. The Lifetime Network has partnered with Billboard in order to bring the event to TV and has signed a three-year deal to air the big night.

Billboard also had a powerful statement about choosing Lady Gaga as this year’s guest of honor: “Billboard’s Woman of the Year has always represented the finest in music, and the anointing of a key influential figure who drove the conversation for that year. No one embodies that more than Lady Gaga in 2015. From her show-stopping performance at the Oscars, to her co-headlining tour, to her philanthropic outreach and foundation promoting youth wellbeing and empowerment, to her new role as TV star, there is no woman dominating popular culture tastes and its evolution as much as she is today. What a force.”
