Black Panther Star Chadwick Boseman Passes At 43 After Private Battle With Cancer

Chadwick Boseman, the incredible star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Black Panther has passed away at 43.

In a heartbreaking statement shared to the actor’s social media, it was revealed that Boseman passed away after quietly battling colon cancer for four years.

“It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” the message begins.

“Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV. ⁣A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. ”

“It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

The message concludes, “He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. ⁣The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time. ”

In addition to his groundbreaking role as King T’Challa/Black Panther, Boseman is also known for taking on many significant roles including as Jackie Robinson in 42, Thurgood Marshall in Marshall and James Brown in Up.

Following the news of his passing, hundreds of tributes have poured in from around Hollywood ranging from those who worked closely with Boseman to those who only briefly met him in passing, but the message is consistent, that he was truly a bright light in Hollywood.

Boseman is survived by his wife, Taylor Simone. Thoughts are with his family and friends.
