Clint Eastwood’s newest directorial effort, American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper is already being buzzed about for award nominations as it tells the story of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle who is identified as the most lethal sniper in American history.

Kyle spent ten years in the service of the Navy including four tours in Iraq, but in February 2013 at the age of 38 Chris Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield were murdered by another veteran at a shooting range near Fort Worth, Texas.

Honored to have portrayed Kyle in the film, Cooper escorted Kyle’s widow Taya Kyle to the Washington D.C. première of the film at the Navy Memorial where she was received by a standing ovation.

At the screening Taya Kyle was obviously moved by Cooper’s portrayal of her husband stating, “You’ll see in this movie, Bradley is Chris.”

“I have no idea, literally no idea, how he pulled that off,” she continued. “People who know Chris well and have seen the movie have said one word over and over: ‘eerie.’ It’s almost eerie how much it really is Chris. And I’ll never be able to thank Bradley enough for that.”

“Not only did he do his research and do the physical part of it and get the dialect, which is such an odd mix of different places that Chris lived. But then he took this man, who truly is one of a kind and is charismatic and soft and tough and strong, and has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met. And he brought that to the screen in a way that that …you will know Chris at the end of this movie,” she told People magazine of Cooper’s performance.

Taya, who is played by Sienna Miller, in the film also commented that the film was important for her entire family, “This is going to play a part, for better or worse, in how my kids remember their dad.”
