Country superstar Carrie Underwood and former NHL player Mike Fisher just celebrated nine years of marriage, but the singer recently celebrated another anniversary with her husband.
Underwood took to her Instgaram on October 9, 2019 to celebrate 11 years since she first met Mike Fisher. The 36-year-old shared a selfie of herself with her husband out to dinner at Del Posto restaurant in New York City, writing, “11 years ago yesterday, I met the love of my life…patient, kind, the best dad, handsome, of course!”
She continued, ” Someone who accepts me and all my flaws…the same as me in many ways…opposite in some. But he is my match. The iron to sharpen me….tonight we celebrated at @delposto.” She ended her adorable post with, “A rare night out with amazing food and even more amazing company and conversation. Here’s to so many more years together. Love you, babe!”
Underwood enjoyed the anniversary during a very brief break of her Cry Pretty 360 Tour which resumed on Wednesday.
The pair first met in 2008 after a mutual friend introduced them following one of the singer’s concerts. The couple have revealed that at first the relationship was difficult because Fisher was living and playing professional hockey in Canada while Underwood was all over the place for work.
Underwood revealed that their version of “dating” was talking on the phone for three months after that initial meeting before they finally met up for their first official date on New Year’s Eve 2008. “That was good for us. Our first real date was on New Year’s Eve, and our first kiss was when the ball dropped,” Underwood said of their difficult dating process.
Fisher proposed in December 2009 and they were married on July 10, 2010. They welcomed their first son Isaiah in 2015 and their second son Jacob in early 2019.
“They love it,” the singer said of her kids on tour. “Isaiah, somebody recently called him the mayor of catering because he’s just, like, ‘Hi, everybody!’ and loves seeing everyone and he’s got his little scooter he rides around the venues in. He’s such a people guy, so he’s living the dream.”
