After getting adjusted to late night entertainment without the legendary David Letterman, comedy fans will soon have to say goodbye to longtime Daily Show host Jon Stewart.
Stewart is set to tape his last episode on August 6th after announcing he was retiring from the role after 17 incredible years behind the desk.
Comedy Central wasted little time in announcing that it would be relatively unknown comedian Trevor Noah who would be tasked with filling the large shoes left by Stewart as host of The Daily Show, and now we know Noah’s official first appearance will be on September 28, 2015.
In a new promo segment for “Trevor Noah’s New and Sexy Daily Show” the 31-year old sits down behind the desk still marked with Stewart’s name and tries out potential new introductions including, “Welcome to The Daily Show” and “I am The Daily Show,” however when Stewart appears on set, Noah quickly takes off.
Unfortunately for Noah after an initial warm reception, he is now facing an uphill battle to win over viewers after old tweets and jokes surfaced in which many claimed he was being anti-semitic, racist and sexist.
Regardless, Comedy Central stuck by their decision of Noah as Stewart’s replacement and Stewart himself even took a moment to defend Stewart’s talent and ability and encourage the audience to give him a chance.
