The finale of season 25 of Dancing with the Stars is just around the corner, and with only six couples remaining, the competition is tougher than ever!
Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke performed a flapper-style Charleston routine that received the duo nines across the board. Judge Len Goodman called him the most improved dancer of the season. Right behind them was Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas who received a 26/30. The duo seemed to be struggling after Stirling’s fall last week and the judges criticized her footwork. Tying them with a 26 was Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson whom the judges had mixed opinions about. Carrie called the routine close to perfection, but Len thought it was lacking.
One of the weaker performances of the evening was Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy who received a 24. The judges seemed slightly underwhelmed but Arlen admitted rehearsing was a struggle this week after she had a spasm in rehearsals. Drew Scott and Emma Slater were another duo who landed near the bottom with a low of 22 and the judges critiqued Scott’s technique and form.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the best of the night was undeniably Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold who made a huge comeback after falling down the leaderboard last week. The groovy quickstep was simply perfect and earned them an unshakeable 30/30.
The trios of the night followed a similar path as those of the duo routines! Jordan, Lindsay and professional Corbin Bleau performed a salsa that was accented with speedy laser beams. The trio landed a perfect score, which was Fisher’s second 30/30 of the night. Next was season 6 champ Kristi Yamaguchi, Mark and Lindsey who performed a lively jazz routine that landed them a 28/30. Just behind them by one point was Witney and Frankie who were joined by Alfonso Ribeiro for an energetic jive. Near the bottom of the trio pack was Drew and Emma who were joined by Rashad Jennings for a cha cha that landed them a 25. Tying at the bottom with 24’s was Terrell and Cheryl who were joined by season one winner Kelly Monaco and Victoria and Val, who partnered with Laurie Hernandez.
By the end of the evening, an inevitable elimination round was in order and Terrell and Cheryl, as well as Frankie and Witney, were the couples in jeopardy. Ultimately it was Terrell that was sent home. “I had a great time. She was a great teacher. I couldn’t have asked for anything more,” Terrell said while Cheryl added that she was “so proud.”
