With 11 stars still in the running early on in season 22 of Dancing With the Stars, it really is anyone’s compeition, and this week it was time for a trip down memory lane with Monday night’s theme of their “Most Memorable Year.” The theme has become a fan favorite, as well as an emotional journey for many of the stars, and as always there are already some stand out stars and a surprising celeb sent home.
For those who are leading the pack, once again Boyz II Men’s Wayna Morris impressed the judges with his waltz with partner Lindsay Arnold which was dedicated to the year 1996 when he and Boyz II Men performed the national anthem at the Summer Olympics. UFC fighter Paige VanZant also received praise from most of the judges for her paso doble with partner Mark Ballas which was dedicated to the year of her first UFC fight, 2014. Then of course there is the leading favorite Nyle DiMarco who after a slight slip last week was more than made up for with his unbelievable tango with Peta Murgatroyd which he dedicated to the year 2012 which was when he traveled the world without an interpreter. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba even commented, “You were with the music tonight. I love Superman, but you’re like better than Superman.”
Of course, it can’t go well for everyone and Mischa Barton, Doug Flutie, Von Miller and Antonio Brown floundered, but in the end it was former O.C. star Mischa Barton who was sent home after struggling for the entire competition this far. She did, however, dedicate her dance to 2006, the year she left her starring role on the hit television series, explaining that she wasn’t “enjoying it anymore.”
