Dancing With the Stars wasted no time jumping into one of the most popular theme’s with Most Memorable Year night on the Monday, October 8 episode of season 27, and if emotions weren’t already at an all-time high, the third contestant was already sent home!
Week three of the already very impressive season not only brought emotional dances from the stars, but also is the first time the stars have really started to spread apart in terms of points and skill.
The very first perfect score of the season was handed out to Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke when they earned a perfect 30 for their Samba to “Ni Tu Ni Yo” by Jennifer Lopez ft. Gente de Zona. The Fuller House actor’s most memorable year dance was dedicated to 1999, the year he left Buenos Aires to pursue his dreams of stardom in Los Angeles.
Not far behind Di Pace and Burke however were Milo Manheim and Witney Carson, Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe, and Tinashe and Brandon Armstrong who all earned 27 out of 30 for their dances. At 17, Manheim didn’t have as many years to pick from so he chose 2018 which had a lot to do with his Dancing With the Stars journey! Evanna Lynch danced her Viennese Waltz to “Hedwig’s Theme” by John Williams for good reason — her most memorable year was 2006 which was when she was cast as Luna Lovegood in the iconic Harry Potter film franchise. At an early age, Lynch suffered from an eating disorder and after becoming pen pals with J.K. Rowling while in the hospital, she was inspired to get better to land the role. Lastly, Tinashe’s Rumba to “2 On” which is her own song celebrated the year 2014, when she put her first album out.
Falling to the middle of the pack was Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten, DeMarcus Ware and Lindsay Arnold, Mary Lou Retton and Sasha Farber, and Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess. Alexis and DeMarcus each earned 26’s for their routines with Alexis dancing a contemporary to “How to Save a Life” dedicated to the year 2014, which was when she lost her mother to breast cancer. Meanwhile DeMarcus’s Argentine Tango was in celebration of the year 2016, when he finally won a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos. Mary Lou Retton scored a 24 for her Viennese Waltz to “We are the Champions” which was unsurprisingly in dedication to 1984 when she won the Olympic gold medal. Bobby Bones meanwhile scored a 23 for his Contemporary to “A Million Dreams” which he dedicated to 1998, when he became the first person in his family to graduate high school.
In the end, those who fell to the bottom of the leader board were Nancy McKeon and Val Chmerkovskiy, John Schneider and Emma Slater, and Joe Amabile and Jenna Johson. Nancy earned a 22 for her Rumba to “Love Someone” in dedication to the year 2006, which was the year her family was complete. John Schneider’s most memorable year was 2016, the year he lost his mother, but his Waltz to “Smile” only earned him a 21. Once again, at the very bottom was Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson who scored only an 18 for their Viennese Waltz to “You Are the Reason” which was in celebration of 2018, the year Amabile stopped fearing commitment and fell in love.
Despite it being obvious that Amabile should be the one going home, he once again didn’t even find himself in jeopardy as Nancy and Val and Tinashe and Brandon were the two couples at risk of elimination. In the end it was Nancy McKeon who was eliminated.
