Season 28 of Dancing With the Stars has been off to a rough start with injuries and exits, but luckily week four saw everyone hit the dance floor, and also brought Leah Remini as a hilarious guest judge.
Remini, who has competed and stepped in as co-host in the past, took part in the Monday, October 7 episode as a part of ABC’s Cast From the Past week.
Week four definitely saw an improvement from all the dances, but unfortunately former NBA player Lamar Odom and Peta Murgatroyd once again found themselves at the bottom. The pair danced a Viennese Waltz, and despite getting two fours from Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli, Leah Remini had some kind words for the athlete. “I’m getting emotional, Lamar, because I don’t know if everybody knows how hard you work and how hard this is for you,” she said. Score: 20 out of 40.
Not far behind Odom and Murgatroyd was Sean Spicer and Lindsay Arnold. The former press secretary performed a Paso Doble and despite words of encouragement from none other than Len Goodman, the pair only landed a score of 21 out of 40.
Despite a huge week last week, Kate Flannery saw herself fall just a little when she and her pro partner Pasha Pashkov ended with just a 26 out of 40 after their Argentine Tango. You definitely went for it,” judge Brno Tonioli. “You lost balance quite a few times. You lost the smoothness of the Argentine tango.”
Queer Eye star Karamo Brown went last, but proved he worked really hard to deliver a flawless tango with his partner Jenna Johnson. “You really turned on that kind of leading man attitude,” said Tonioli. “There were no mistakes tonight.” The pair scored a 28 out of 40.
Actor James Van Der Beek had quite the pre-dance video package where he revealed he and his wife are expecting their sixth child. Despite a lot of positive comments from the judges following his quickstep with Emma Slater, he only scored a 28 out of 40.
Meanwhile, it seems model Sailor Brinkley-Cook has really found her stride after stepping in for her mom, and everyone was impressed with her cha-cha with her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy. “It’s another terrific performance,” Goodman said. “You really got yourself on a roll. This was a very well executed cha-cha.” Score: 31 out of 40.
In an interesting turn of events four couples ended up at the top of the leader board with a score of 32 out of 40. Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber made the judges sing their praises after a jive to “Proud Mary.” Country singer Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko impressed with their foxtrot to “Jolene” by Dolly Parton. The Bachelorette’s Hannah Brown proved her dance training is coming in handy after a successful Paso Doble with Alan Bersten. Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson also landed a 32 with a cha-cha that left everyone with smiles on their faces. “I actually saw you come out, your personality,” added Tonioli. “You only have to believe in yourself.”
After such a big night, it was revealed that Lamar Odom and Peta Murgatroyd, and Karamo and Jenna Johnson were in the bottom two. Leah Remini didn’t get to pitch her vote on who to save, but it was okay because immediately Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli opted to save Karamo and Jenna which meant it was the end of the road for Lamar and Peta.
