Dean McDermott Quits True Tori, Admits To Suicidal Thoughts
Published on November 5, 2014.Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott have been facing a lot of marital troubles lately, all of which have been available for public viewing through Spelling’s reality show, True Tori.
While people have been watching the drama and trainwreck of a relationship unfold, the true reality is it is taking a severe toll on McDermott.
In an interview with Access Hollywood on Wednesday November 5, McDermott, 47, announced he is quitting True Tori after two seasons of having his entire life under public scrutiny.
“We have five more shows left. I can’t do this anymore. I can’t keep opening a vein, opening my soul and sharing my feelings thoughts and demons with the world. I don’t watch it. I can’t. It’s really difficult. I can’t do it anymore, for my soul.”
Lately the show has been focused on the fact the Chopped Canada host cheated on his wife while in Canada filming his show.
The aftermath has been disastrous for their relationship and Dean admitted he was even contemplating suicide at one point, “I was driving around in my truck with a loaded 9mm. I was put on a 5150 at the UCLA psych ward. [My son] Liam had a performance and I didn’t want to miss that performance…I had plans that night to do it.”
While he has persevered and worked hard to battle his drug use and alcoholism by staying sober, he firmly believes his marriage can still work, he just can’t do it in front of cameras, “I love this woman regardless of what I’ve done. I love her and I want to be with her. I want to grow old with her, at this moment she feels the exact same way.”
The couple who have four children together, have also been struggling financially which is causing additional stress, but that also means even if he might want to quit, McDermott may be contractually and financially obligated to continue on with the Lifetime series.
