David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon) will serve as the movie’s director. Lowery co-wrote the film’s script with Toby Halbrooks. Jim Whitaker is also set to be a producer for Peter Pan & Wendy.
The live-action Peter Pan & Wendy film will be an update of Disney’s 1953 animated classic Peter Pan. The movie, itself, is based on the novel and play by J.M. Barrie about a boy who refused to grow up. There have been numerous adaptions and riffs on the Peter Pan story, from musicals to Steven Spielberg’s Hook. The iconic Disney animated film still remains extremely influential in the character’s design and impact, and it has even inspired a popular ride at Disneyland.
Anderson is the daughter of Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich.
For both Anderson and Molony, their respective roles in Peter Pan & Wendy could be the biggest of their young acting careers.
Disney continues to expand on its live-action projects after the 2019 success of Aladdin and The Lion King, both grossing $1 billion at the global box office, while the latest live-action film, Mulan, is set to hit theaters March 27.
