Eight months after the passing of his wife Beth Chapman, it seems Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman is getting ready to move on.
In a surprising clip from an upcoming episode of The Dr. Oz Show, Chapman seems to be in tears as he is asked about considering suicide after his wife’s passing. In the clip, he is with Moon Angell, his late wife’s best friend and who was the maid of honor at their wedding. In the clip, an emotional Dog says, “I am a lot happier with her around. Moon Angell, will you marry me?” Although Angell’s face isn’t seen in the clip, Dr. Oz looks shocked.
Despite the impromptu proposal, TMZ is reporting that Chapman and Angell, who was his late wife’s best friend and assistant for many years, are not engaged.
TMZ reported, “Sources connected to the show tell TMZ … he also told Moon he loved her and revealed he was talking to God in the bathroom during a break, and God told him he should propose. However, sources close to the family tell us … the TV proposal, recorded last week, was NOT legit — he was overly emotional and got caught up in the moment. We’re told he did not give her a ring during the taping, and they are not engaged.”
The clip comes shortly after Chapman’s daughter, Lyssa Chapman, seemingly took to social media to slam Moon for “trying to date” Duane after the death of Beth, who passed away in June 2019 at 51 after a battle with cancer.
“If someone who met your family by dating your brother, tried to date your father after your step-mom died what would you do?” she tweeted on Monday, January 6. “If you went to your mothers closet and saw she moved all her clothes and replaced them with her own, what would you do? #ItsNotWhenOrWhyItsWho.”
In another tweet, Lyssa wrote, “My dad is a GROWN ASS MAN. His money. His dynasty. But you can guarantee that my name is not going down in history as a person who supported this.”
Dog has told Radar that Angell is just a close friend who is helping him through his loneliness. “She has just been so good to me. I’ll get really emotional and find myself getting into a dark hole and she will tell me to suck it up,” he explained to the outlet. “So it’s been good having her by my side.”
