Amid the legal battle raging between Kesha and her music producer Dr. Luke reports started swirling that Sony Music is planning on cutting ties with the controversial music producer.

On Wednesday, March 9, outlets reported that after months of Kesha supporters urging her label, Sony, to “Free Kesha,” the company had decided to end its relationship with Dr. Luke, so that Kesha can release music without him. After hearing the news, Dr. Luke’s lawyers released a statement, saying, “This is not true. Luke has an excellent relationship with Sony. His representatives are in regular contact with executives at the highest levels at Sony and this has never come up.”

In February a judge denied Kesha’s request for an injunction that would allow her to release music without the producer after she filed a lawsuit claiming that in the ten years they have been working together he has abused her emotionally, mentally and physically while he continues to deny all of it. Many have stood up in support of Kesha including fellow celebrities such as Lady Gaga, and Kelly Clarkson also spoke out about her own negative experience working with Dr. Luke. “Unfortunately, when you have that poor of a character, like, so many artists don’t like you and don’t like working with you. You know, that’s not normal. I get along with everybody I work with. He’s just not a good guy for me,” Clarkson stated.
