Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took to Instagram to reveal some personal news: his family was in a car accident with a drunk driver.
His mother and cousin were struck head-on in a crash — but The Rock was quick to point out that the important thing is that they lived.
“First reaction is to find the person who did this and do unrelenting harm to them,” the 42 year-old actor wrote in a caption to a photo of the mangled vehicle.
“But then you realize the most important thing is my family lived thru this and we can hug each other that much tighter these days,” he said. “Hug your own family tighter today and be grateful you can tell them you love them.”
Family is important to Dwayne, who has a 12 year-old daughter. “I can appreciate so much, as I get older, how powerful and special a relationship between a daddy and a little girl is,” he told Redbook a few years ago. “The responsibility is awesome, because it’s going to affect how she relates to all the men in her life.”
The Rock also shared a happier photo of himself pushing his mom in a wheelchair out of the hospital. “Takin’ mama home. Banged up, but she’s a tough one and will make a full recovery,” he said, adding: “Grateful to see her smile. And thank you guys for all the prayers, love and well wishes. #GratitudeAndBearHugs #ChoicesMatter #100PercentPreventable #DontDrinkAndDrive”.
