Ellen DeGeneres Shares Moving Tribute After Her Father Passes Away At Age 92

NBC

Beloved entertainer Ellen DeGeneres has had a very difficult week.

The actress, talk show host and comedian revealed earlier in the week that she was devastated over the disastrous mudslides in California which have affected many including her own home in Montecito, and has now revealed that her father, Elliot DeGeneres, passed away at the age of 92.

On Friday, January 12, Ellen honored her late father by sharing emotional stories and paying tribute to him while fighting back tears on her show. “In addition to what’s going on in Montecito, I lost my dad this week. He was 92 years old. He had a good, long life.” She shared with the audience a photo of her father and herself in an old black and white photo from her childhood. She added, “He lived his life exactly how he wanted. He was Christian Science his entire life, he never had medicine in his life, never went to a doctor, I never had a vaccination, never had medicine growing up. And he lived to be 92, and he was very proud of me, and he loved this show. He was a very kind man, very accepting man and there was no bone of judgement in his body. He was very funny, I think my brother Vance and I got our sense of humor from him and we only took one family vacation.” She then described their visit to Warner Bros. studio, the very lot her show is filmed and revealed she did get to see her dad before he passed and said goodbye.

DeGeneres then revealed after he passed she saw a sign from him, a rainbow over the Warner Bros. studio that they visited and where she now works.

She also took to her Instagram to share a photo of the beautiful rainbow over the Warner Bros. studio named after her, and wrote, “When I was a kid, my dad took us on one vacation to Warner Bros. Studios. He loved this business. He loved that I was in it. When he died, I saw this rainbow over the stage they named for me.”
