What’s it like to have a baby with a surrogate?
Ellen Pompeo gave us a look into that process in a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The 44 year-old Grey’s Anatomy actress told Jimmy, “I looked into the microscope and I saw the embryo, I saw the baby.” She continued: “They inseminate her. And then we hold hands and we prayed, and now we have a gorgeous baby girl.”
Ellen managed to keep the identity of the surrogacy secret, which she said actually wasn’t that hard given her experience keeping other big events in her life a secret. Check out the video to see what else she hid from the press when it happened.
Ellen’s show Grey’s Anatomy is currently kicking off its new season — and we might not see Ellen act very much after the show winds down. In another interview, Ellen said, “I definitely don’t have a strong desire to act after Grey’s. I definitely feel myself transitioning. I don’t find acting terribly empowering.”
She explained further: “I just feel like I’d like to see if I can do something different and be successful at something different. I feel like I’m very successful at acting.”
Given that Grey’s has been around for 11 seasons, we have to agree.
