With shows like HBO’s True Detective lining up some big name actors and actresses for its show, Fox’s Empire is following suit with some huge musical names signing up for its second season.

On Monday May 11, the network confirmed that, much like season one, which saw guests stars in the form of Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Gladys Knight, several other recognizable artists will be visiting Empire Records.

Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz have been confirmed and actor Chris Rock will also make an appearance, Variety reports.

As well as expanding on famous guest stars, due to Empire’s enormous success Fox has also ordered an additional six episodes for the second season bringing it up to an 18 episode season after breaking ratings records last year.

As much as the star’s are important for the show with the likes of Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson in lead roles, Empire relies heavily on original music which was created by executive music producer Timbaland in season one, helping land the show’s first soundtrack at number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts.

As a result, it has also been reported that Grammy winning artist Ne-Yo will be joining the show’s creative team to write original music with the network and the show’s creator teasing that an amazing second season is to be expected.
