Fans of MTV are well aware of the many former reality stars from the network who have been lost too soon, and now reports are confirming the Clay Adler committed suicide at the age of 27.
Adler is best known to MTV fans for starring on MTV’s shortlived series Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County in 2007. According to the reports, Adler went to the desert with some friends on March 25, 2017 to shoot some guns when Adler suddenly turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the head.
Adler’s father, Frank Adler, confirmed that his son was taken to hospital for his injuries but passed away a day later in hospital on March 26 and no drugs or alcohol were found in his system as he “had been clean for years,” his father stated.
“We saw him every minute of every day while he was there. We had an amazing time with him at the hospital,” Frank Adler added.
“We are saddened by the news of Clay Adler’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time,” MTV said in a statement.
Back in 2007, when starting out on MTV, Adler was hoping it would be his start to a career in the entertainment industry. “I’m hoping the show will kind of jump start it. I’m interested in the whole aspect, whether it be in front of the camera or behind,” he said at the time.
