Former Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Eason has released a statement one day after the news broke that she and her husband David Eason had temporarily lost custody of three of their children in an ongoing legal battle.
“I love my kids so much and I will do anything necessary to get them back and that is all I want everyone to understand,” she told the Hollywood Gossip in a statement on Wednesday, May 29.
“I love being a mother and David and I will get through this. We are staying strong and united,” she continued. “I ask everyone to have an open heart before they judge how the media is portraying me.”
After the court ruling, Jenelle’s manager released a statement:“At this time we are cooperating with the judge and legal team from court. We have no comment at this time and we appreciate the concerns regarding our client and her children. We will continue to cooperate with the court and their decisions.”
Although initial reports stated that Jenelle and David Eason had lost custody of Jenelle’s two sons Jace and Kaiser as well as the daughter they share Ensley, it seems the custody was actually over Kaiser, Ensley and David’s daughter from a previous relationship, Maryssa as Jenelle signed over her son Jace to her mother Barbara Evans when Jace was only a baby and has never regained custody.
For the time being Jace and Ensley are in the care of Barbara while Kaiser is with his paternal grandmother and his father, Nathan Griffith, while Maryssa is with her mother Whitney as the judge told Jenelle she“failed to protect the children while they were in her care.”
The custody battle began when Kaiser was removed from the home by CPS after David allegedly shot and killed the family’s dog Nugget in a very disturbing incident.
Along with losing custody of their children, a week after the incident, MTV made the decision to cut ties with Jenelle. The decision came more than a year after the network already fired her husband David after he posted racists and homophobic remarks on social media.
The inability to film David greatly impacted Jenelle’s last season on Teen Mom 2 because nothing could be filmed at her house and David continuously threatened producers.
