As Teen Mom OG returned with an emotional season 7B premiere on Monday, October 1, it was reported that former Teen Mom OG star Ryan Edwards had returned to rehab only weeks before the birth of his son with wife Mackenzie.
According to multiple outlets, Edwards who previously had a brief 21 day stint in rehab in the summer of 2017 for his heroin addiction, has sought treatment again but this time is taking it much more seriously. The Ashley reports that Edwards is in in-patient rehab in Alabama and has already been there for about a month.
“[Ryan] isn’t supposed to be out [of rehab] until February or March,” a source told Radar Online, meaning he seems to be in a six month program, but also means he will be missing the birth of his second child, but first with Mackenzie Standifer who is due in about two weeks. “Mackenzie moved out of the lake house they were living in and is now living with her parents,” the site’s source continued.
Although Mackenzie has not confirmed this, she has made it clear that she is going to stand by Ryan, and after he was arrested earlier this year for breach of probation she said, “I have stuck by my husband through some of the darkest times imaginable. Have mistakes been made? Hell yes. Have they been accounted for, dealt with and resolved, yep. Why do I post pictures of my husband and myself? Because we do love each other. And that is real life. If you want to fault me for standing by my husband and sticking to my vows, then don’t follow me.”
Ryan and Mackenzie announced back in July that they would not be returning to the series, stating, “We’re not returning to Teen Mom this season. The network told us they don’t want to show Ryan as a recovering addict.” Many however wondered if Ryan was actually recovering, and another report indicated that Maci refused to film if they kept Ryan on.
