Nearly six years after his reign as the reviled King Joffery came to an end on Game of Thrones, Jack Gleeson is making his return to TV.
The 27-year-old actor will join the cast of an upcoming BBC comedy series titled Out Of Her Mind from British comic Sara Pascoe. The series is described in a press release from the network, “subverts the traditional sitcom format by combining eccentric characters, animation, and scientific explanation.”

Gleeson’s portrayal on Game of Thrones earned him critical and public acclaim. His acting was so convincing that the actor even said some fans began hating him personally. Gleeson left the show after his character’s passing in the show’s sixth season in 2014. The then-21-year-old star told Entertainment Weekly he planned to take a break from acting at the time.
“I’ve been acting since age 8. I just stopped enjoying it as much as I used to,” he said. “When you make a living from something, it changes your relationship with it. It’s not like I hate it, it’s just not what I want to do.”
While Gleeson considered becoming a scholar, he said the lifestyle was too “lonely and isolated.” The actor joked to the outlet that although he wasn’t taking offers, when he’s destitute in 10 years time, he’ll accept any script.
His last film role came in 2010, and since leaving Game of Thrones, the actor hasn’t appeared on TV. Gleeson didn’t leave the entertainment industry completely; in 2016, the actor brought his puppet show, Bears in Space, to the US.
No premiere date for Out Of Her Mind has been announced yet. Gleeson will act alongside Juliet Steveson, Cariad Lloyd, rapper Scroobius Pip, and among others.
