Fashion Police’s Giuliana Rancic, 40, has issued another apology to former Disney star Zendaya Coleman, 18, after making extremely disrespectful and racist comments regarding Coleman’s dreadlocks while at the Oscars on Sunday Feb. 22 when she stated, “I feel like she smells like patchouli oil… or maybe a weed.”

After hearing about the comments Coleman issued a statement on her Instagram shaming Rancic for her comments stating, “To say that an 18 year old young woman with locs must smell of patchouli oil or ‘weed’ is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive.”

Rancic took to her Twitter to issue an apology on Monday Feb. 23 but then made a more serious attempt at a sincere apology when she issued a public apology on E! News on Tuesday Feb. 24.

“I’d like to address something that’s weighing very heavy on my heart. I want to apologize for a comment I made on last night’s Fashion Police about Zendaya’s hair,” she began. “I just want everyone to know, I didn’t intend to hurt anybody – but, I have learned, it is not my intent that matters, it’s the result. And the result is that people are offended, including Zendaya, and that is not okay. Therefore, I want to say to Zendaya, and anyone else out there that I have hurt, that I am so, so sincerely sorry […] This incident has taught me to be a lot more aware of cliches and stereotypes, how much damage they can do – and that I am responisble, as we all are, to not perpetuate them further.”

While issuing a public apology means a lot for Rancic owning up to her mistakes and understanding how what she said was wrong, the apology did come conspicuously after Rancic’s Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne threatened to quit the show after the incident.

Osbourne took to her Twitter to voice her outrage about the comments and the fact she was being accused of being the voice who added the “weed” comment.

“I’m giving everyone involved 24 hours to make it right or the world will hear how I really feel. contactually Im not allowed to speak,” she wrote first before adding, “I DID NOT MAKE THE WEED COMENT. I DO NOT CONDONE RACISM SO AS A RSULT OF THIS IM SERIOUSLY QUESTIONING STAYING ON THE SHOW!”

No further comments have been issued by an party regarding the issue.
