Former Glee star Naya Rivera is missing after a trip to a California lake with her four-year-old son.
According to the Fillmore Police Department, Rivera was reported missing on Wednesday after a trip to Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. The mother and her 4-year-old son, Josey Dorsey, rented a pontoon boat and were swimming in the water. When the boat was overdue for its return after a three-hour rental, the staff investigated and found it at the north side of the lake with her sleeping son aboard.
A search-and-rescue investigation was opened, but Naya was not found. Authorities suspended the search for the night, but plan to resume the investigation on Thursday.
“The missing person at Lake Puru has been identified as Naya Rivera, 33, of Los Angeles,” the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department tweeted. “SAR operation will continue at first light.”
According to NBC Los Angeles, Rivera’s son Josey was wearing a lifejacket when he was found. The boat also contained an adult-sized lifejacket, which is believed to be the one provided to Rivera.
“This is considered to be a horrible accident,” Ventura County Sheriff’s Department officials told NBC Los Angeles.
