During a virtual appearance on Tuesday, April 21, on Jimmy Fallon’s at-home edition of The Tonight Show, Halle Berry revealed that she and her two children – 12-year-old daughter Nahla Ariela and 6-year-old son Maceo-Robert – have been spending their time at home by the pool while social distancing together. However, after swimming every day in the pool, it took quite a toll on Nahla’s hair.

“We’re doing her homework the other night and [Nahla] goes, ‘Mom, I’m scared to tell you this, but touch the back of my head.’ All her hair, which is past her shoulders, has shrunken up into a tight ball that feels like matted fur,” Berry said. “I can’t even get my finger in it, and I’m pulling and she’s screaming.”
The actress tried “to stay calm” and helped her daughter by putting conditioner in her hair to try and work out the matte. However, “30 minutes later,” it only got “tighter.” So Halle had to “shave it off,” sharing that Nahla is “bald in the back” now after the hair matte incident.
“She was not cool with that, but it was our only option. But now she gets it,” Berry said. “I was like, ‘First of all, maybe you’ll let your mother help you. And second of all, you learned you gotta brush your hair. Every day, you gotta brush your hair.’”
Concerning her children, Berry is very private and doesn’t show the faces of her children on her social media. However, she has given glimpses at her family’s home life together as of late.
Earlier in April, she shared a rare home video of her son playing with Berry’s high-heeled shoes.
Some followers were quick to criticize the actress for letting her son wear heels, and in response, she wrote to one commenter, “🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 harmless fun. Tryna survive right now. You feel me? ♥️.”
