Published on February 27, 2020.

Hilary Duff may have alluded to the reason why Disney decided to pause production for the Lizzie McGuire reboot after the company decided to pull the Love, Simon television adaption from Disney+.

On Tuesday, February 25, Duff – who is executive producing and starring in the Lizzie McGuire revival for the Disney+ streaming platform – shared a screenshot of an article from The Advocate about the company’s decision to move the Love, Simon series from Disney+ to Hulu.

“Sounds familiar..” the 32-year-old actress captioned her Instagram Story.

The television adaption is based on the 2018 movie Love, Simon, a romantic comedy starring Nick Robinson as a gay teenager who hasn’t come out to his family or friends yet. The adapted series focuses on new characters and is titled Love, Victor.

Multiple sources told Entertainment Weekly the show was pulled from Disney+ and moved to Hulu due to content concerns – including depictions of alcohol use and marital issues – would not fit the family-friendly focus at Disney+.

There has also been some behind-the-scene drama at Disney+’s Lizzie McGuire revival.

In January, Disney+ announced that after filming two episodes for the reboot, Lizzie McGuire original series creator Terri Minsky had left her position as showrunner. A new showrunner hasn’t been named yet.

“Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement at the time., obtained by PEOPLE. “After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the series.”

Last year, Duff shared a couple of Lizzie McGuire reboot teasers like set photos to what fans can expect from the upcoming series.

The reboot will follow Lizzie as a 30-year-old millennial navigating life in New York City.
