With the One Direction band mates officially launching their own solo careers, the boy band music department has been seriously lacking this year.
As tends to happen with boy bands, singer Zayn Malik announced his departure from the group in March 2015 which was later followed by a similar career move by the remainder of the group’s members. The broken band left raving fans devastated, but not to fear because Simon Cowell, the force behind One Direction’s successful music career, has comprised a new boy band called PRETTYMUCH.
On July 21 the boy band debut their first single “Would You Mind.” The song channels the same tone of 90’s boy bands and channels old school vibes. The tune was written by Savan Kotecha who has also worked with One Direction, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd to compose hit tunes.
PRETTYMUCH is comprised of four teens from the U.S. and one Canadian; Austin Porter (19) Brandon Arreaga (17), Edwin Honoret (18), Nick Mara (19) and Zion Kuwonu (18). They were all discovered by Simon Cowell, the Synco Music founder. They have allegedly been living in a Los Angeles home together since 2016 working on writing, recording and producing music together. The group seems to already be on the path to success and boasts a following of over 160 000 followers on their Instagram account.
PRETTYMUCH has announced that they will be appearing at the upcoming 2017 Teen Choice Awards.
