FOX is entering the world of reality television dating programs with a brand new series Flirty Dancing set to be hosted by dancer and actress Jenna Dewan.
Flirty Dancing is the U.S. adaptation of the hit British reality show, and is set to premiere this winter.
The series has its participants learn just half of a dance routine and then they meet their partners for the first time on a blind date at a “breathtaking location.” The pair then perform their routine without speaking to one another. As per Fox, the dances are designed to “tell a story reflective of their personal journeys to find love, while also providing clues to the other’s personality.”
“Flirty Dancing is a truly unique format — it’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. It’s fun, fresh and romantic, and broadens the dating format far beyond its traditional boundaries,” Rob Wade, president alternative entertainment and specials at Fox, said Wednesday in a statement. “Jenna is our dream host. She knows all about how powerful connection and chemistry can be on the dance floor. So there really is no one better to help guide these singles in their search for love.”
Flirty Dancing is part of an unscripted lineup at Fox that includes the breakout The Masked Singer; the Gordon Ramsay quartet of Hell’s Kitchen, Masterchef, Masterchef Junior and 24 Hours to Hell and Back; the game shows Beat Shazam and Spin the Wheel; and the docuseries First Responders Live.
Dewan, who recently revealed she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Steve Kazee following her split from Channing Tatum with whom she shares 6-year-old daughter Everly, took to Instagram to share her excitement about the new hosting role. “The news is out!! I am so thrilled to be a part of this fun, fresh and crazy heartwarming show! So grateful to be working with @FoxTV and these incredible producers, and to bring what I know would be my new favorite show to our TV’s this winter! More to come soon! @FlirtyDanceFox,” she shared.
